Sacha Baron Cohen's Queen Biopic Gets Title

The Queen biopic starring Sacha Baron Cohen will be called "Mercury".

The Bruno star had been confirmed to play frontman Freddie Mercury, but the title of the film had been the subject of much debate.

Producer Graham King told Digital Spy: "I can tell you the working title is 'Mercury'. Whether that ends up being the title of the movie we’re not sure yet."

King, currently promoting Martin Scorsese's "Hugo", added: "He led such a big life and there’s just so much to tell. Then you've got all this fantastic music. You've got to fit that in. It's not an easy one to put together but I'm pretty confident we'll be shooting that next year."

It is believed that the film will focus on Mercury's often strained relationship with bandmates Brian May, Roger Taylor and John Deacon, with the movie believed to climax with a recreation of Queen's seminal 1985 performance at Live Aid.

I don't like this guy, but I hope his role does justice to Freddy and is more than a ploy to earn some easy money.

I suspect he'll do a good job of it. I just hope he does the lip-synching thing and doesn't try to sing it himself like Bob Geldof in "the Wall" or Joaquin Phoenix in "Walk the Line". Those other actors done a good job singing their parts, but we're talking Freddie Mercury here and not Johnny Cash.

Sacha Boren Cohen, we all know him for his portral of Borat and Bruno, but we seem to easily forget how much of a method actor he is. All those shots in those movies were documentary like rather than Hollywood with different takes. He only had one shot on those two movies. Was he comical in those movies, yes, but he never cracked jokes in those movies. He'll be an excellent actor as Freddie Mercury. My only issue is the singing!

I thought he sung pretty well in Sweeney Todd, and he's an incredibly versatile actor, so I have no doubt he'll get the physical representation and mannerisms down. It will be interesting to hear whether his vocals do justice to Mercury though, but I feel positive about it When is it slated to release?

Have you ever seen him act? He's a ****ing brilliant actor.

Like BradTheBluefish said, he did Borat and Bruno live, interacting with real people in one shot takes. Imagine how effective he can be when taking shot after shot. Every one of his characters is significantly different, too (even though they're all mildly retarded, it seems). I'm not saying everything he's done has been good, but everything he's done has been acted extremely well.

I think, as devoted of an actor he seems to be, this will be incredibly performed, if nothing else. Also, I'd be willing to bet that he sings his own parts and surprises the shit out of some people. I realize that his appearance and his acting abilities alone were enough to get him the job, but I bet there was something else that made him their man for the job.
