Saliva just revealed that their new frontman will be former Burn Season drummer Bobby Amaru.
This is huge news since most of us didn't even know the group had parted ways with founding vocalist Josey Scott. In an interview with Texas radio station KFMX, Saliva guitarist Wayne Swinny said that Scott had left the radio-rockers earlier this year so he could pursue a career as a solo Christian artist.
Besides having played drums in Jacksonville, Fla. melodic rock act Burn Season, Amaru has also fronted his own solo group. The new version of Saliva has already recorded three new songs and are currently looking for a new deal after splitting with longtime label Island Records.
Saliva was founded in Memphis, Tenn. in 1996 and has released seven studio albums. They've found huge radio success with singles like "Always" and "Click Click Boom".
Shame.. this band just kept getting worse and worse, getting a new singer is just going to alienate their fanbase even more. I think they should call it a day.
Josie's voice is one of the main reasons I liked saliva in the first place (particularly the older albums). I can't see them having much success without him.
^^^ Oh god. I didn't know about Killswitch. This news about Salive is disappointing as well, but I think the band lost most of its credibility when Chris D'Abaldo left. As much as I hate to admit it, the albums just started to get worse and worse.

Despite this, their first cd was one of the best "rock" albums of the era. It's too bad that it all went steadily downhill. It would have been interesting to see what they could have become had they transformed and survived the Nu-metal phase.
Change the name of the band! Just like Killswitch should change their name. When Zach de la Rocha left Rage Against the Machine andChris Cornell took his place as lead singer they didnt call it RATM, they called it Audioslave. These aren't the same bands without the original singers period. And now Josey Scott is a christian WTF?
hoping band might quit alltogether they were ok at best during their prime i mean hand a little kid a guitar and he could play click click boom. band has always fit a mold and it will be interesting if they can write new stuff.

well some of their softer songs were borderline country rock, I really wouldn't have minded that as their new post Nu Metal sound
They should have just broken up, honestly. They've been on a downward slide commercially since 2002, by now there has to be nothing left in the tank. Although I'll always enjoy their album "Back Into Your System"...lots of surprisingly good songs on that one.

Bad example with Audioslave dude. They weren't trying to be RATM with Cornell, they went a whole new musical direction.

I disagree with this completely. The singer of a band is not the only defining part of a bands sound. Take your rage comment for example, say that tom morrello left instead of de la rocha. would they be any more or less of rage than if zach left?

guys these people are right lets go back and change all the post Ozzy Sabbath albums under a new name for each singer, same for Van Halen and you know what....the iron maiden we know and love isn't really Iron maiden at all. God the singer isn't the name of the band (unless your breaking Benjamin) I say if the rest of your band is still in they can carry on without one member

Maybe they would be doing dubstep by now if they "transformed"...
I honestly don't like it when a band changes their lead singer. I understand if they have to, but it often changes the entire style of the band, just so they can suit the singers needs. I hope for their sake that this man isn't like that
This is sad news.
That Florida boy is not gonna cut it.that band of his sounds like a bunch of sissy crap.
IT ain't Memphis, and it sure as hell ain't Saliva!
Who is left from the origina line up anyway, wayne and Dave.I know both those guys and they are both great musician, but it ain't Memphis and it ain't Saliva!
props to Josey for following his heart!I'm sure hell be successful at anything he sets out to do.
Wayne,stop beating this horse,its dead!
