Senses Fail Down One Man

artist: senses fail date: 12/11/2007 category: general music news

Senses Fail bassist Mike Glita has decided to quit the band.

The announcement was made via myspace bulletin:

"There are no hard feelings involved with his decision; Mike simply wants to move on and pursue personal ventures and feats he has put on hold for the last 5 years. We all had a good talk about it and wish him nothing but the best.

"As for the four of us (Buddy, Dan, Garrett, Heath), we will continue Senses Fail and see you all next year on tour.

"We began the writing process last week for our follow up to Still Searching and will keep everyone up to date with videos, photos and blogs!"

The band reissued Still Searching earlier this year.

Thanks for the info to Punknews.org.

IMO, bassists are relatively insignificant contributors to the band in this particular kind of music (hardcore, post hardcore, etc), so they feel like it is not completely fulfilling their musical needs. while there ARE bands where the bassists is a key instruments to the music, in a band like senses fail, any bassist is practically interchangable

It's a shame because imo mike glita was a better singer than buddy, i think it's buddy on lead vocals... anyway, yeah, lost a good backing vocalist and a decent bassist...life go's on

okay lets see what crap they try to sell us as Senses Fail next, i mean theres such a difference between Let It Enfold You (which they recorded with dave) and thenh Still Searching (with Heath) i mean it just wasnt the same and now that mike has left the band, im left pondering what their next album will sound like

things happen, i don't think it'll hurt them too much. shouldn't be hard to find a good replacement. nice to know they're working on a new record though.

senses fail is great, its a shame that people just rip a band when their music sounds kind of the same. People are so quick to jump of a band's bandwagon haha. But seriously, bands cant win, if they sound the same album after album, people hate them. If they change their music people complain they don't sound the same. They can't win.

False. Senses Fail is not a hardcore or post-hardcore. Bassists ARE a big part in hardcore bands. Most hardcore punk bands have a ton of bass melody over top of thrashy guitars. Senses Fail are just a poppy hard rock band that sort of borrows from the post-hardcore sound. Anway, they seem like nice enough guys, but they suck live. Like, bad. I've heard that recently they've gotten a bit better, but i would have to see it to believe it, and their songs are still cheesy.

bass is one of THE key instruments in a band, when to start and stop and when to begin a chorus or a verse its extremely crucial to have an efficiante bassist who knows whats going on

copletly in agreement, you cant have a band with out a bass, it just would sound bad, and whinny

No one said you don't need a bassists, just they are easy to replace most of the time in that style of music.

at least they are not just DYING anymore like in the earlier days.

maybe because basist doesnt get enough credit within any bands... i mean if you ask someone thats not a player of any musical instrument or trying to pick out things in a song, they wont really notice or credit the bass that is behind all the guitar work and vocals... Its like this with rythm guitars for a while, but yeh imo is just that they dont get credit or be recognised unless their really bad and sleepin with ashlee simpson...

if any of you actually listened to senses fail you'd know mike is important. on the dvd for creating still searching he's got so many good fills & passing notes & things like that that really key into dans drumming. and no, they don't only sing abotu death. you just don't understand lyrics & metaphors. why would you even post something that you don't know what you're talking about.

I like senses fail and all, but they are no where near punk.

it sucks that another guy left the band though. hopefully when they get another bassist and make a new ablum it'll be better than still searching.
