Serj Tankian has released an unusual jazz-inspired song called "Yerevan to Paris," which you can hear below.
It first appeared on his recent jazz album "Jazz-iz Christ" between Tankian and a host of other hand-picked musicians, which was released on his own Serjical Strike Records label in late July.
Fans funded the record via a popular Kickstarter campaign, but people who know Tankian best for his work with System of a Down were probably surprised to hear the results. Listen to a clip of the song below and let us know what you think of it in the comments.
Meanwhile, System of a Down have been rumoured to be recording a new album, by Tankian's dalliances with side-projects like "Jazz-iz Christ" could be getting in the way of progress. "We have to make a record when we think it's time, not anyone else," he said during a recent Reddit AMA. "I am not opposed to making a System record at all. It just has to be the right time for us all in the band."
