The new Simple Plan album cover for their upcoming CD self titled, 'Simple Plan' has been released exclusively on their official web page.
After reading the many comments left by fans, a mini controversy is discovered, though there are many fans backing the cover choice 100% it seems a large percentage of the fan base is against it! Some leaving ridiculous comments criticising the band, and calling the derogatory terms. Many remain adamant that the new cover is a joke or prank.
The new cover is a blue screen manipulated image of the band posing, with a city behind them that is completely destroyed and on fire. The symbolism in this is obvious, but is seen as 'selling out' to some fans. Head over to www.simpleplan.com to check it out.
Lead singer of the band, Pierre Bouvier has felt the need to speak out over the matter, speaking out in a blog on his own official MySpace page. He believes that many people are out of line in the things that they have said to the band, he says "We're not a boyband nor are we changing into something different to please anyone. News flash, everyone evolves and its not necessarily a bad thing."
He also speaks about the meaning behind the cover, saying how it's supposed to look the way it does, it's meant to have the exaggerated overpowering feel to it. The band are fans of the hit TV series, 'Heroes' and they believe that they've added that element into the visual, and give it a movie poster structure.
The release date for the album is February 12th, 2008. The latest single, 'When I'm Gone' is available on iTunes and LaLa.com. The video is expected to come out soon.
