Slash Blames Rose For GN'R End

After seemingly endless speculation regarding the reformation of the original or classic line ups of Guns N’Roses, Slash, as he has in the past, has emphatically stated that it’s not going to happen.

In a recent interview with the Bangkok Times, Slash unequivocally refuted that it could happen and laid the blame firmly at the feet of Axl Rose.

When asked the question of reunion directly Slash replied:

"Do you feel like you’re the only person in this whole room who’s thinking about that question on this planet? – No."

"It’s been, what, 15, 16 years. No one in the original Guns N Roses ever said ‘let’s try to put the band back together.’ Also, it’s all about Axl. The reason that everybody left was because in the back of his mind I think that’s the way he wanted it. So the reason why there’s no Guns N Roses was because of him. I’ve got nothing to do with it. I quit for the same reason that everybody did. So it’s really his problem."

How do you know he was sober? And no one quit the band because slash had drug problems. I read slash's book and agree he was a pretty bad junkie but he even admits that and said he was never late for a show unlike axl who still to this day shows up late.

If you're in a band with your lead guitarist (and most others in the band) highly strung out on heroin/cocaine/whatever else they did, I'm sure you wouldn't want them to carry the bands business endeavors -- hence the reason why I support Axl when he asked for the bands sole ownership.

1) The music business in the 80's/90's was pretty much built on drugs.

2) While Slash had his addictions, this did not compromise his work in Guns n' Roses. He was never unable/too late to do his work both in the studio and on stage (unlike Axl).

3) Claiming sole ownership of a band is dick move, no matter how you look at it. If Slash's drug habits bothered Axl, then Axl should've discussed that with him or should have tried to get him sober.

Duff left because the band was doing nothing (since Slash left)
Slash left because he just didn't like Axl anymore, Axl had a different vision for the band, but Slash insisted on his blues-rock style, infact, the first Snakepit album was supposed to be a Guns album.
Izzy left because of Slash (his drug abuse, Izzy just got sober)
Steven was kicked out because of everyone BUT Axl (including Slash, his childhood friend)
Matt got kicked out after an argument with Paul Tobias, I believe, it was an argument about, guess who...SLASH!

So when you think about it, who broke up the band?

LOL, yeah Slash was strung out on the UYI Tour, but he left GNR half a decade later; the drugs were not the problem. And AXL refused the material Slash offered for the follow up to Spaghetti, so AXL is to blame and everyone knows it. That's why he's the only one left in GNR.

Again, Slash was clean when he left the band in 1996. Also, he wasn't kicked out, he left of his own accord like every other member except Steven.

He wanted the band to go in a different way, showed up late or didnt show at all to some shows, and which some of you don't know- he beat his wife pretty bad in the 90's. That sounds like a pretty messed up person in the head to me. Some people even without drugs are more messed up than people on heroin, it's possible I've known some. Though that is very rare for it to happen, it is possible, which for me makes me prefer Slash (plus VR was way better than GNR's new lineup).

Izzy's the true legend in the band. Quit because playin' infront of 60'000 people wasn't "fun". And he has done about 10 records since? True rockstar... And yes, it is as simple as the classic Stooges song "No Fun".

Theres so many things that could have broken up the band. Axl wanting full control of the band, his huge ego, him not showing up for shows. But also Slash and Duff had huge drinking problems, and drug problems. But also i think they knew it was really over once Izzy left, but they just wanted to complete the Illusion tour. But a great band and I would love to see a reunion, though i doubt itll happen anytime soon if at all. Axl will prolly lose his voice before itll happen haha.

I just hope this is just the most ingenious marketing campaign for a comeback tour ever. I mean, it feels like the hype you hear before a huge boxing match. Just like mayweather/paquio(however you spell that). And with Duff jamming with Axl about 6 months ago its clear they're ok with each other. Back and forth, back and forth and then bam it'll happen. One day it will definitely happen. These guys will get over it. There is WAY too much money to be made. It's ridiculous.

One thing I will say, slash seems to be talking about this a lot more than axl.

My thoughts exactly. READ his ****ing autobiography, Axl was the one who cut off contact with the band, choosing to communicate solely through lawyers and agents. Slash's drug problems never really affected his music, OR his professionalism.

And seriously, it HAS been over 15 years now. Everyone's moved on, it's not gonna happen, just accept it and move on. FOR GOD'S SAKE.

Buckethead helped write the Chinese Democracy album, not Bumblefoot. He's just a touring musician for now.

Um, I don't know where you got that story from, but Axl has stated, as well as the rest of the band, that he had only one encounter with heroin. He tried over one weekend before Appetite and that was it. Slash himself said that Axl mostly smoked pot and the odd line of coke. That was it.
