Slash: 'By The Sword' Video Premiere

Ultimate-Guitar.com is proud to premiere a brand new Slash video for "By The Sword." The song comes from the legendary guitarist's latest album "Slash," and features Andrew Stockdale of Wolfmother on vocals.

The video was shot April 3 and April 4 in the Los Angeles area. As previously reported, anyone could participate in the filming process as a part of the concert crowd. Several photos from the photoshoot are available at this location.

A live video of Slash and Andrew Stockdale performing "By The Sword" at The Roxy in L.A. on April 10th can be seen at Slash Online. At the show, Slash performed new songs from his new solo album together with GN'R classics such as "Civil War" and "Paradise City".

"Slash," the album, scored the highest new entry on The Billboard 200 chart, with first-week U.S. sales of around 60,000 copies.

The LP was released in North America on April 6 via EMI Label Services. The album features an all-star roster of guest musicians, including Ian Astbury, Chris Cornell, Rocco DeLuca, Fergie, Dave Grohl, Myles Kennedy, Kid Rock, Lemmy Kilmister, Adam Levine of Maroon 5, Duff McKagan, M. Shadows of Avenged Sevenfold, Ozzy Osbourne, Iggy Pop, and Andrew Stockdale of Wolfmother.

Watch the official "By The Sword" video below!

In other news, Slash and Ultimate Guitar are announcing a unique fan Q&A session, giving UG users a chance to ask Slash anything they want. The questions will be answered by the guitarist on a monthly basis in his blog.

"I've been getting some very inquisitive comments and tweets from fans," Slash said in the announcement. "I’m going to address some of your questions on my official blog here on Ultimate-Guitar. So if you have something to say, please post it in this thread and hopefully I can answer you here. Just keep it clean. Iiii|; )"

The song was okay. The bass was sending me to sleep though. Thank god for volume drop at the start of the solo, that saved it. Great solo.

Every song on this record is single-worthy; it's incredible! This one is definitely the weakest on the record, though...a good tune, but why make it your lead single? Hope the album is able to continue to gather steam; he deserves some serious crossover attention for this record.

Gotta agree with you on that. The video is pretty meh as well. Would have liked it to have more of a story than just people rocking out to the band playing the song.

I dont agree with either of you haha, Id say this track along with nothing to say(m shadows), Back from Cali(myles) and Crucify the Dead(ozzy) are all singles...for some reason i think fergie's beautiful dangerous will be a single too..but im not really a fan of her..shes hot..but she can only kinda sing..

This song grows on me each time I hear it, never been a big fan of Wolfmother (the music is okay ...just the fact that it is a complete rip off of Black Sabbath with Robert Plant/Jack White on vocals) but this is pretty good.

I thought it would have been cool, in a really cheesey way, if Slash just came up out of that hole in the beginning playing guitar haha

Just went on that "ask Slash stuff" forum and like 90% of the questions asked are stuff like "What if your fave food" etc

If I could ask Slash stuff I would ask him about GnR and other stuff like that. It's what everyone is thinking after all. I remember Axl did some fan Q&A when Chinese Democracy came out and no one was asking Axl what his fave food was. Plus Axl called someone a C***

I am really happy that the audio track for the video was remastered, because on the cd you can;t hear the vocals very well. Great video, The metal top hat was good.

Plus Stockdale just sounded like he wanted to be Chris Cornell. Disappointed.

This is a great single! The beginning is epic and the chorus is definitely epic. This song is fantastic, but the video was a little strange for my taste. Really looking forward to seeing more singles, maybe Beautiful Dangerous? Slash adapting to all of these very very different singers is such an amazing feat in the music world! Keep it up Slash, you are the man!

I was very VERY impressed and surprised with the song he did with fergie. she needs to be in a rock band. Musically this album is NOT as good as Chinese Democracy but this album is more fun to listen to. When you have buckethead and bumblefoot working on the songs along with robert finch and so on, its hard to beat that MUSICALLY.

Problem with chinese democracy was not the musicians it was way, way over done and it showed so much. This album on the other hand is get in a studio, knock out an album and have a good time and of all the years democracy took to make. This album just comes across more genuine and fun and that it was rock n roll is about.
