Slash Denies Hall Of Fame Confirmation

Slash was keen to set the record straight regarding his forthcoming Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame induction alongside Guns N' Roses.

He publicly responded to comments made by Joel Peresman, president of the Hall Of Fame Foundation, who said in an interview that the full band had confirmed their attendance.

Rock presenter Eddie Trunk, who conducted the interview with Peresman, confirmed the quote over twitter. It wasn't long before Slash took to the microblogging service and added some clarity to his position:

For the record, I didn't RSVP, or in any way commit to attending the RRHF. I don't appreciate people putting words in my mouth. Iii|; )'

It sounds like the members of Gn'R are keeping some distance before making commitments, though a full reunion of the early 1990s lineup appears increasingly unlikely.

Eddie Trunk now appears to be just as skeptical. In a later tweet, he proposed his own theory:

Here's my prediction; current GnR on tour at time of ceremony and at the most a recorded video thank you from Axl. Just a guess, we will see

Trunk adds that he remembers Axl Rose making a point in his most recent interview that he plans on touring all next year.

well yes axl would be late he always was because he has the emotional maturity of a 5 year old girl. but i've read slash's biography and he's said many times acomplishments are in the past he's focused on now every time his wife hangs up one of his golden records he'll take it back down and hide it. plus axl will probably go all phsyco controll freak on them and they'll all leave and i doubt steve adler will want to cuz if it wasnt for axl he'd still be in the band and if not he's be playing for ac/dc.

To put that into perspective, Axl, the oldest member of GNR, was 12 when Rush began. And they're a who-knows-how-many-piece band.

This doesn't make them better musicians than Guns. (They are). It just makes them better people. No hall of fame awards people for being sane.

Also, sadly, Appetite for Destruction has sold more world-wide than ALL of Rush in the US.

I love em both, and I would love to see Rush in the Hall. But Guns is better known.

1) Slash as a solo artist hasn't been around for long enough
2) who broke more ground musically, slash by himself or GNR?
3) Slash wouldn't even be remotely close to where he is now without GNR, and chances are 90% of the people on here wouldn't even know of his existence

Like it or not, he may not need GNR now, and they may not mean a lot now, but back in the day they were an unstoppable, creative force that deserves to be in the hall of fame. Hell, I don't even like Guns N' Roses and I still think they deserve to be there.

chances are Slash will ask him to go as his guest. according to Eddie Trunk, Slash has asked him (Eddie) to go as his guest, so why not Myles? or the rest of his current band for that matter? he could also be thinking in terms of a performance. if Axl doesn't show up but the rest want to perform Myles can easily handle the duties. I tend to think Axl won't bother to show or if he does he'll refuse to perform if it's not with his current version of GnR.
also, people bad mouthing Slash saying he's not going need to chill. Slash didn't say he's not going. he just said he hasn't committed to it. that doesn't mean he won't go, and personally I'll be surprised if he doesn't.

A full GnR reunion (as in, Slash, Axl, Steven, Izzy and Duff all playing together) is about as unlikely to happen as watching a winning lottery ticket get smashed by a meteor which then proceeds to get struck by lightning.
