Slash Thinks New Megadeth Album Is 'Killer'

Former Guns N' Roses and current Velvet Revolver guitarist Slash has posted a short message on Twitter regarding the new Megadeth album, "Endgame", stating simply that it "sounds killer!"

Megadeth mainman Dave Mustaine was clearly flattered by Slash's remarks, writing in an online post, "Slash and I have been friends for a really long time. I have played in concert with his band, and jammed with him in a cover band once. We used to hang and party, true, but I dug Slash the most for his amazing talent on guitar. I am honored he said that he likes it."

According to Hits Daily Double, the companion web site of music industry tip sheet Hits, "Endgame" is on track to sell between 40,000 and 45,000 copies in the United States in its first week of release.

Megadeth's previous album, "United Abominations", opened with around 54,000 copies to land at position No. 8 on The Billboard 200 chart. This was more than the 46,000 first-week tally registered by its predecessor, "The System Has Failed" (which debuted at No. 18 on The Billboard 200 chart), and was a bit less than the 61,000 opening number of 2001's "The World Needs A Hero" (No. 16).

"Endgame" was recorded at Megadeth's brand new, self-built studio in San Marcos, California — Vic's Garage — which was named after the legendary and iconic Vic Rattlehead character. The CD was helmed by Megadeth mainman Dave Mustaine and British producer Andy Sneap (Exodus, Nevermore, Arch Enemy, Machine Head).

The great thing about Endgame is gonna be the live version of these songs with the guitar shredding its gonna insane! I got floor tickets for the Canadian Carnage tour in Montreal with Slayer and Megadeth gonna be ****ing awesome!

Also all the 13 year olds that think Slash is the best Guitarist ever are gona hear about this and give Megadeth a listen and hopefully enjoy it and get in to Thrash Metal :P

i think its more like the 13 year olds who think thrash metal is the be all and end all of rock music will listen to mustaine and give different style rock a listen and hopefully enjoy it.

mustaine is a smart man, i heard his favorite all time band is actually led zeppelin.

don't get me wrong, i love metal and thrash. but i'd like to say that one of the reasons megadeth is my favorite thrash band is because mustaine REALLY understands all kinds of music, not just metal, and you hear it in his songs.

i love slash, and he's right...Endgame is killer!!!

This album, in my opinion, was dissapointing. I've listened through 3 times and only 2 songs have held my attention and, even then, it hasnt bee for long. But i know I'm in the minority on this one.

Well it's not exactly like Led Zeppelin are obscure. A lot of people like them. But yeah, I see what you're saying, it's good to see that he isn't narrow-sighted enough to not appreciate other types of rock.

I'd be surprised if he liked much, if any, music outside of rock though. I wonder if he ever chills out to a bit of Bill Withers, or spends a sunday soloing to Steely Dan.

Pretty damned awesome Slash likes it- he's my favorite guitarist! =D

Mustaine is a big Elton John fan. I've heard him say things about black people music too, not that he's a big fan of it, but he understands it and appreciates it. I've also heard him say that jazz and classical music were big influences to Megadeth. In fact original members Chris Poland and Gar Samuelson were jazz rock fusion players.

Hmmmm, End Game was a very intelligent and well executed album. The one thing that im really hung up on is that i don't really like Dave Mustaines lyrical compositioning. I compare this album to say Youthanasia, its not as catchy and i found Youthanasia to be easier to listen to and the lyrical content on that album along with say, countdown to extinction to be much more enjoyable and better written.

Don't get me wrong Dave, the new album is ****ing great, and we all know you and your new guitarist can shred like nuts, which is awesome, but i liked the older, catchier tunes like "a toute le monde" or "addicted to chaos"
