Slash has been recognised by Guitar International with a 2011 Lifetime Achievement Award.
The title is awarded to guitarists that "have deepened our passion for our favorite music, as well as entertained and inspired guitarists around the world", according to Noisecreep.
Slash tweeted his appreciation for being granted the award:
The guitarist appears to be rolling in adulation, with this award and a forthcoming acceptance into the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame with the early 90s lineup of Guns N' Roses.
Slash told Total Guitar (via NME) that his new solo album is trying to catch more of a live sound, and that its current recording sessions have been "the most fun that I've had since the earliest Guns N' Roses days."
He added: "I definitely have found a certain freedom to be able to feel comfortable expressing myself with the guys that I'm working with, and just being able to focus on what it is that I like to focus on, and not having a lot of outside distraction and internal distraction and confusion."
He is joined in California's Barefot Studios by his touring lineup, which is fronted by Myles Kennedy of Alter Bridge.
"We're just going for the one take that sounds good, so my solos are more raw, probably sloppier in a way, because they're very spontaneous to the point where it's in the heat of the moment," Slash said. "Everything is being played live with the music tracks: the solos, everything. We're trying not to overdub extra bits. So if there's a solo, I'm playing on one side, singer Myles [Kennedy]'s rhythm track is on the other."
Meanwhile, the debate as to whether the former Guns N' Roses lineup will reform for their Hall Of Fame induction continues.
