I guess I was lucky. I saw them on the Mayhem tour on 8/17/2008 and Corey said Joey had a severe ankle sprain, guess it turned out to be broken instead. He still played for us though & beat the shit out of those drums & gave us a great show.

Good point, no one needs their ankles to play the bass drum.

That's too bad, those are some huge festivals, lots of people will be disappointed.

Too bad, if he played anything else he probably would've been ok to play. I saw a metallica show a day after hammet had his appendix removed and he sat in a chair for the whole show.

He could die? He could have both is legs cut off? All the drumsets in the world could blow up? His legs could catch on fire and could never use them again? Obviously not the WORST thing that could happen. But still Joey Jordison is a great drummer and this seems like a big bummer for him

That must be really shit for him, i'd imagine they were all excited about playing leeds and reading, especially for showcasing the new stuff. And for those who said that another drummer at leeds/reading could fill in, i doubt it. Most (not all) of the other acts are hardly very metal, and the drummers probably couldn't play in Joey's style. Better not to play than to play a cobbled together performance with a drummer who doesn't know the set very well i guess.

Too bad James plays way more leads and more complicated guitar than Mick and also doesn't look like as much of a douche.

I'm glad I got to see Joey before all this went down. Maybe they could find a replacement, but a lot of people go to a Slipknot show to see Joey himself, just because of his talent at drums. It'd be a ripoff to the fans for them to find a fill-in.

Slipknot does not have time signature changes every 5 seconds. If they do anything its a "tempo" change not a signature. i'll give joey credit for being fast, but their music isn't really THAT complex, certainly not as complex as symphony x or dream theater.

Th e have time signature breaks every 5 seconds, I know this session drummer plays like symphony x stuff, dream theater, rush,.....slipknot is not only faster, but the songs are really complicated to grasp for percussion. And all of joey's fills are recognizable.....oh for the ongoing debate. I am a bigger fan of Jim's style of playing, huge fan....but Mick is better.

You don't play drums [or music much either] do you?

Dude, I use my ankle exclusively for double kick.

Pfffft, Joey is nobody special. There are so many drummers that could easily keep up to him. Danny Carey being one of them.

It had to be Joey, because you can't drum with a broken ankle. Sid is a DJ and doesn't use his feet. I still think it's awesome that Sid went to all of the Mayhem shows (I went to Atlanta)with two broken feet.

Joey's a damn good drummer, but he's far from the best. Most importantly, Slipknot isn't Korn, they just don't seem to be a band that's willing to use fill ins... even with nine members.

Too bad, if he played anything else he probably would've been ok to play. I saw a metallica show a day after hammet had his appendix removed and he sat in a chair for the whole show.

You guys are dumb.
Obviously you can't play double bass with a broken ankle. Even while mending, it will annoy the injured ankle.

Stupid Slipknot twats. Joey Jordison is an average drummer, they could have easily got some other guy to replace him for the shows. Seen Slipknot live myself and they were shit anyway. Defend them all you want slipknot fans, i couldn't give a ****. Slipknot fans are like fundamental christians. they won't admit to a single flaw in the band which means that their opinions are utterly and totally worthless. **** off

damn you and you're getting their first, and i agree slipknot suck some pretty major balls. now consider the fact people i know drummers my age (17) that could dump on anything joey has tracked.

so yea he's ok not great but ok..... And thats all there is to slipknot to me lol. *toddles of to listen to decapitated, who had a turly awesome drummer (R.I.P Vitek)*

Damn, Mick was shredding too fast and broke one of his fingers.
lol Mick a shredder?

P.S. Joey and Corey are the only good members of that band, IMO

Travis Barker played with one leg for an entire tour. And recently played with just one arm. I think Jordison should suck it up and play.

yeah but with a broken ankle it would hurt like hell to use the double bass drum, especially the way he does it lol, i have to say im not surprised this happened, after all he does bang the livin daylights outta that kit, he must spend a fortune on skins, cos they must wear out so quick with him lol, and NOW his ankle has worn out cos of his insane drummin, but hey, hes only human at the end of the day, a very talented one at that who pushed himself to the limits for his fans so show a little respect haters, slipknot aint all that bad

dude travis barker plays VERY differently from jordison, you need all four of your limbs to play the stuff he plays, it just aint possible to do it with one leg

Joey filled in for Lars a couple of years back, so I know that the concept of a replacement drummer exists in Joey's mind. Don't get me wrong; I'm not suggesting that Lars could really pull off the stuff Joey does and fill in for him, but I find it hard to believe that there isn't someone, somewhere who could at least cover that post adequately until Joey heals up.

Oh no! Now all the 14 year old "metal" kids can't go see their favourite "metal" band... How sad.

Yes, we all know Slipknot isn't Slayer or Down.

I don't particularly like Slipknot, but I like tools who say stupid biased and stereotypical comments to make themselves feel like less of a tool even less than I like Slipknot.

i second that!!!!
Mulldarran is a F'in Moron, Slipknot is probably the top Metal Act Today! and when i say that i mean, Today!!!

Until BLS starts touring again!

Well that sucks. But really, they could find a thousand replacements if they tried. Maybe they were aiming for consistency.. But they could keep it a secret and just go on with the show.. No one will notice cause the replacement is in a costume/mask too.

Well for one he is 5 foot three so finding a drummer is not that easy, and to replace him with a stand in is shitty, as he is one of the most if not the most popular members of the band. it would be like having someone fill in for eddie van Halen at a van Halen show. sure there are people who could fill in, but it woulndt be right.

I read an article where joey filled in with Korn and he said he had a broken thumb or finger (Cant remember) but he said every time he did a rim shot or a really hard hit he had blinding pain,(I can see that) and he said somen bought gettin knocked out with a metal pole & gettin lit on fire in slipknot...I nvr heard about that.
