i have to say that i think this is an absolute con, and an awful idea.

I disagree. While Billy Corgan is a douche, the idea of a look inside the creative process of an album is a great one. I personally would not like Billy Corgan's commentary, but if other artists took this up it would be awesome.

why not just call it sixty and throw in a special cd dvd pack at the end of the deal?

Hanzo Takashi :
Billy Corgan will do anything for money.

He's almost as bad as Gene Simmons.

^What other evidence, besides this article, do you have that Billy Corgan is a greedy capitalist? I say none, sir. Billy Corgan is in it for the music, not the money. I think it's fine to charge for something like this. With recorded music worth very little these days musicians have to find some way to make a living off it because it is their job and livelihood.

Amen, he's pathetic, soon he'll be doing naked webcam shows (and not the musical kind I'm afraid)

"In exchange for a fixed resource base fans will be let inside in an unprecedented way to the creative process of preparing to make the next (Smashing Pumpkins) album while also inspiring an interactive dialogue that will help shape the work."

As a former SP fan, I might have considered paying $40 to see the whole band collaborate to make SD or MC&TIS back in my teenage years. Those were epic albums to a lot of people.

As for that last part... anyone who thinks BC is going to let his fans shape his music is delusional. His own band quit out from under him because they couldn't get him to listen to them.

He should consider doing it for FREE in an attempt to win back former fans like myself. I'd tune in to check that out, form a curiosity standpoint if nothing else.

"The goal is to create a working model that is not profit motivated but rather information and access motivated."

THEN GIVE IT TO US FOR FREE

Fans will not get access to any completed music.

So, $40 bucks to listen to BC whine on video cam. I would pay $40 NOT to have to listen to him.

I could rant about this, but im tired of it.

This is probably his worst idea. Ever.

It would be a good idea if he wasn't charging....I think artists should update fans on the recording process anyway....its just another form of promotion.

man, what's happened to SP? billy corgan is such a douche. i miss the old band, siamese dream, gish, mellon collie were friggin great albums, but now, with only him as the original member..., yea not so good.

NGAMER9 :
So it is like Metallica's thing they did for Death Magnetic, but for 40 bucks? Pass. Why not go with the Metallica pricing model instead of charging us through the nose for it?

Yes, god forbid artists actually recieve money for their work. That's not being greedy at all.
