Pumpkins4Life :
Poor Billy, I remember when his favorite strat was stolen. Thank god nothing of value was taken though. I say hang 'em.

This 'reunion' will be crap unless either Iha or Darcy are involved.

Pumpkins4Life :
yeah, I'd say comeback tour before "reunion" tour. Billy and Jimmy are the only originals and the only ones that talk to each other, they both helped each other on solo albums and had the highly underrated Zwan together. So its not like they went their seperate ways.

we allready knew those 2 vould possibly be in the band, this tells us nothign new, sucks to be the people in jail

I'm sorry. I love the SP, but it won't be the same without Iha. Too bad...

The album will be released on 07/07/07

So I checked out Reyes and Schroeder on YouTube, imagine the Pumpkins a little more funky and a little more pop-punkish and you have the new line-up...This is going to be strange.

im disappointed, Iha made the band, respect

This is weird. I remember reading Melissa Aur Der Maur said she would rejoin the Pumpkins in a heartbeat, they should have stuck with some familiarity. I really wouldn't call this a reunion by any means. Disappointing nonetheless.

I thought the new album was out 7/7/07...did it change or is this yet another incorrect article?

This Smashing Pumpkins "reunion" has as much of the original members as Billy Corgan's solo project

I don't understand why everyone thinks that Iha made the band...

Corgan and Chamberlain were the creative force behind the music (writing almost literally all of it together).

Iha just played what he was told. When he went to A Perfect Circle, it was the same deal; he just moved to a different group of people, where a different bald man named Billy told him what to play.

the band's rehearsal studio in Chicago was burglarized last week

Burglarized?

Burglarized?

Uh yeah...are you questioning whether this is the right word? If you use British English then you would say "burgled" not "burglarized," so I can understand any confusion, if I am interpreting your question correctly. Peace.

Iha had nothing to do with jack! Does anyone know who wrote 95% of Siamese Dreams? Corgan and Chamberlin are all that matter.

Lol, burglarized

But yeah, being robbed must be utter crap. And I wish Iha was involved

people need to remember it was never iha or darcy really in the studio at all. its all corgan's shit. and he's gone down hill since then. maybe the shows wont be as shitty anymore? probably not.

Riot_Economics :
Sure, Iha CREATED (not was told to play) some really nice atmospheric guitar parts. I think that's where his strength lies. However, it is true that Corgan/Chamberlain are the driving force. Thinking this album will be another 'Zwan' or 'Future Embrance' seems a bit short sited to me.

I think The Pumpkins are a state of mind for Corgan. If he thinks 'Pumpkins' they'll sound 'Pumpkins'. I'm really looking forward to the new material. I just hope it doesn't prove me wrong...

I think that they should change the name of the band from SMASHING UUMPKINS to Billy and friends... It is not the original lineup...

Every time a Pumpkins reunion article comes up, people start moaning about the lack of James and D'Arcy. I think we need to move on and be glad that there is going to be a new tour and album.

This is old news(the new members tid-bit; the guys at BH gave away that ditty). It's gonna be kinda lame, though.

It would have been mildly cool if Melissa Auf der Maur was on board.

DancingDays :
it will be better without those two anyway. maybe they will get more accomplished musicians then iha and darcy, billy played most of the solos anyway and chamberlain is one of the best drummers in the world.

cherub_rocker07 :
D'arcy wasn't even in the band when it ended, so WTF would she be now? Corgan's blog calls her "a mean spirited drug addict"

Strange, they're coming to the Belgian festival "Pukkelpop" and the festival's website stated they'd come in the original line-up...

I hope they revert to the old stuff for the new album, concerning the theft, there is no saftey in the world anymore, bring bak the 60's and mellow some stuff out

One of the best songs on SD,MAYONNAISE,was written by James Iha, So much for the theory that Billy writes everything he doesn't.

Listen to Let it Come Down, Iha's solo record. I liked it better than Billy's. It proves James in an accomplished musician and songwriter just like Billy.

im sorry but a bass player in a band like the smashing pumpkins just doesnt matter that much

MoFly41 :
Iha did not "make" the band. When I first started getting into the Pumpkins I had no idea that there were even 2 guitar players. When you listen to pearl jam, GnR, or other bands that have 2 distinct guitar players, you can totally hear it. But as for the pumpkins, Iha is nowhere to be heard IMO. Billy Corgan is the real deal and HE makes the band...

Or you could reserve judgement till you've heard the album

Personally, I'm just glad they have a female bass player. The Smashing Pumpkins with a male bass player just wouldn't seem right.

Cool, though I'm not a huge fan of the band I have a few of their songs. Is it me or does he look like a cross between Boy George and Johnny Depp post-Pirates Of The Carribean ?
