Sonny Moore Leaves FFTL

In a Myspace blog recently posted the band From First To Last clears up rumors about the band and states that Sonny Moore has quit the band to work on a solo career.

Before that the band had added Matt Manning as an official member and expresses how Capitol Records was on the verge of being bought out by another company, forcing the band, along with others to be dropped. The four remaining members have decided to self-produce their next album and allow some change to develop due to the previous circumstances.

"We know that Sonny's departure is going to be a huge deal to a lot of our fans, and we are sorry that these things continue to happen to us (and you). We all tried to make compromises, but sometimes artists just have to do things for themselves.

"To make matters worse, Capitol Records was on the verge of being bought out by another label and bands were being dropped. Money was put on hold from the label and with FFTL already in debt due to the Atreyu tour and studio costs..... Well, we were pretty much crippled.

"We had a decision to make that night at the studio that I will never forget... This was the most epic, movie-worthy event of my life. We just said, "Screw this. Let's just do it ourselves. The whole thing -- just us four." The good news is Sonny leaving meant that the band had to make changes, and these changes couldn't have been more positive. And so, that is exactly what we have been doing over the last couple of months -- self-producing the new From First to Last album, without a record label or Sonny.

"To get the ball rolling, I quickly called my friend Lee Dyess who owns the EarthSound studio in Valdosta, GA where we recorded "dear diary" and "aesthetic" (we also helped him build it), and arranged for the studio time which cost us the rest of our money and favors from Lee. We also teamed up with our close friend Jordan Schur who is not only managing us now, but signed our band to his label Suretone (through Interscope).

"Matt Good is now fronting the band along with vocals from myself and Manning. We are extremely excited about this record, and we are stoked to be singing again.".

yeah i read this 2 days ago on their myspace. i think it sucks major balls big time considering they have gone through 3 bassists and now 3 lead singers in the past few years. i'm really saddened, but at the same time excited to hear what their new record will sound like. i've already heard some of sonny's solo material which is more electronica-ish. it's pretty good (think aphex twin).

the only thing i don't understand was on travis's blog when he was talking about how they had to live in a motel with crack heads and how poor they were. i mean they headlined a tour in 2005, they were on the fallout boy/hawthorne heights tour/warped tour/ atreyu tour in 2006, not to mention they were signed to a huge label in epitaph they sell a ridiculous amount of merch. how could they possibly be so poor?

I am so depressed about sonny leaving and not to seem like a jerk but it sounds like theyre not gonna miss him an extreme amout im sure they will but from this it doesnt sound like it veary much and i agree with 2 lazy2 get better

im just sad because HEROINE far surpassed any of my expectations and blew me away. i love that album. but, we will always have their old music so there's no use in whining over it.

I'm a fan of FFTL. This kinda sucks, oh well, he didnt have a good voice anyway. His soloing is probably gonna be terrible. Another thing, I got Heroine over a week before it came out lol

i love his new stuff. you really have to be openminded to really get into it though. i listen to every kind of music so it was easy for me to fall in love with but if you dont like that style of music then you just wont like it.

i honestly liked dear diary more then i did heroine and eein as sonny had no involvement in the writing of dear diary i think this album will be one of their best yet. it does suck that sonny left. his vocals were pretty bad ass. i know it for a fact they will just come back stronger than ever don't you doubt them

i found out only like 2 days ago...i have a lot of mix feelings about it. at least they still got a huge fan base so it ain't that bad when they put out the next record. i would still continue to support them with or without sonny in it for sure. anyway, matt good sings pretty good.

about sonny's new stuff...i think it's true u gotta be open minded about it but i don't think he'll have much trouble on his own seeing that "scene girls" (as quoted by frodoisdead) would probably still be supporting him.

I'm not 'scene' and I support him souly for the fact that I think hes pretty much the second best musical artist of this generation. I don't like him because hes 'hot' or just because others do. I like him because he earned it from me. I supported him through every last from first to last song and I will support him through every one of his songs for the simple fact that I think he deserves it. All of these other people are talking about supporting the remanints of From First To Last, but what about Sonny? Doesn't he get some credit?

dude that sucks, its cool tho(kinda) cuase i got to see them with Atreyu last November, and sonny was suposebly sick or something, but they still put on a good show. honestly i liked the Dear Diary stuff a whole lot more than Herione, but it was still pretty good.

i mean
i support the guys of from first to last 110%
but no one will EVER speak of sonny after this
that guy deserves respect from every one of you....
he's done so much for this band
and yet most people are like
""OH WELL WE ARE GOING TO MISS HIM"
he's not done yet.
and don't compare his new music to FFTL
because that band is influenced by four different people and their interest mixed into one
now that sonny left..
he can bring out what he brought to the table in FFTL
and make it on his own...

Sonny was not going to be able to continue singing in screamo fashion. He obviously didn't have any real technique, or he wouldn't have needed to drop out of the Atreyu tour for surgery. If you want proof, just look at metal bands that have played for years without any vocalist troubles, that use way more range than Sonny did. (Cradle of Filth, Amon Amarth, Bleeding Through, to name a few popular bands)

It was a factor in his leaving the band, but not the whole reason.

many people are baffled at the leaving of Sonny. Sonny has truely brought out the band in the spot light, and now after a few surguries his voice may not be able to coop with the high demand for vocals for from first to last, it was also the fact, that it was time for him to move on to what he wanted to do. He still has an amazing voice. Matt Good has done an amazing job picking up and playing LEAD guitar AND LEAD vocals, a task not many guitarists take in bands today. hopefully their new record will just blow our minds away like they always have.

sonny had some involvment in the lyrics as dead baby kickball(bonus) i'm sure is about his ex. and one armer boxer he talks about himself.

sonny's voice was unique but there new stuff is top of there game.
