According to DyingScene.com, Sublime With Rome drummer Bud Gaugh announced in an interview (watch it below) this past Saturday tonight at their performance at the 22nd annual KROQ Almost Acoustic Christmas that he will be leaving the band as he's expecting a baby and is planning to focus his time on his family.
We wish Bud good luck and want to say congratulations to his new child. Yes, we're sad to hear that he's leaving, but this is not the end of Sublime With Rome. Bassist Eric Wilson said in the KROQ interview that Josh Freese (The Vandals, Devo, Guns N' Roses, A Perfect Circle, touring member of Nine Inch Nails, and session musician of The Offspring, Social Distortion, Suicidal Tendencies, etc.) might take Bud's place.
Earlier this year, Sublime With Rome released "Yours Truly" on Fueled By Ramen. Almost exactly a month ago, it was reported that the band was either working on a new album or a different project.
"Yours Truly" marks the first album since Sublime disbanded in 1996, after lead singer and guitarist Bradley Nowell died earlier that year. "Yours Truly", which is a tribute dedication to Nowell, met with critical acclaim at the time of its release and received mostly positive reviews. Despite the success, the album has been heavily criticized by fans and critics due to the absence of Nowell and the musical direction.
Its surviving members Eric Wilson and Bud Gaugh did try to reform Sublime in 2009 with Ramirez as Nowell's replacement for a new album and tour, but had to abandon the attempt after a Los Angeles judge banned them from using the Sublime name. Nowell had reportedly owned rights to the Sublime name, and the surviving members were not allowed to use it without approval and permission from his estate. After this case was settled, Sublime officially became Sublime With Rome.
Jesus christ. HE'S expecting a baby?
Well. Shit. He can add pregnant man to his resume then.
Seriously, am I the only one who finds that saying absolutely moronic?
Anyways best of luck to him and congratulations, and yeah, that youtube title is incredibly misleading.
Eric wilson must have that axel rose syndrome...I'm sorry but sublime died with brad. They used the name to push crapy new music, rehash the past, and all they realy did was show the world that an annoying fat kid is the best they could hope for. I'm waiting for Paul or Ringo to kick it so the other and I can reform the beatles! We're gonna be awsome!
