Fans of Sublime With Rome may well have been fretting in the past week, after witnessing drummer Bud Gaugh angrily walking off stage at a concert in Hawaii, suggesting some internal tensions within the band. According to Banana101.5 though, the guys have "buried the hatchet" after the tumultuous incidents at that show.
In a report of the gig,
TMZ explained that the trouble started when manager
Mike "Cheez" Brown took to the stage with guitar during the band's encore – reportedly a fairly common occurrence during Sublime With Rome shows. However, on the night of the 20th November, Bud Gaugh took exception to this, reportedly inciting the audience to chant "
Cheez go home" and hurling insults at the manager-cum-musician before storming off stage mid-song.
In the past days, the band has offered a statement via their official Facebook page on their stint in Hawaii:
"We are so grateful that the fans have brought us out to Hawaii! We had an amazing weekend. I’m really starting to notice the fans singing to all the new music and it’s the most amazing feeling. We are making some important decisions about next year and we truly are very appreciative for everything you the fans have supported us in. We love you. Sublime With Rome."
The comment as Banana101.5 notes, is ominous in that it sends mixed signals about the incident. The website also reports that "Cheez" Brown has agreed not to get on stage again until he has Gaugh's blessing.
Sublime With Rome's debut album, "Yours Truly", was released via Fuelled By Ramen Records in July 2011 and produced by Butthole Surfers guitarist Paul Leary. Given the recent turmoil within the band, whether or not a follow up record will be in the pipeline remains to be seen.
