Nikki Sudden, frontman with Seventies indie rockers Swell Maps, has died aged 49.
The singer passed away on Sunday (March 26), the night after a show New York's Knitting Factory, reports Billboard. No cause of death has been made public yet, according to Secretly Canadian label head Chris Swanson, whose company reissued 10 of Sudden's albums in recent years.
Sudden had just completed a new solo album, "
The Truth Doesn't Matter", and was due to play London's 12 Bar Club on Wednesday (March 29) with his band The Jacobites.
Sudden rose to fame with his brother Epic Soundtracks in the influential late Seventies outfit Swell Maps. Soundtracks died of unknown causes in 1997.
According to Secretly Canadian, Sudden was nearing completion on his autobiography, "The Last Bandit".
