I don't know anything from/about this band aside from Bittersweet Symphony.

I aint a big fan, saw em live, bored me.

I wouldn't mind if they were too split really. Four good songs. The rest is just we want to be Oasis

The Verve is a great band, I would love to see them live. To the comment above me, they are a lot better than Oasis imo.

Saw them at the V festival they were stunning, love their new song 'love is noise'.

I heard "Love is noise" on the radio today and it was diabolical. I actually died a little inside.

They are a fantastic band, well not as consistant as the like of Oasis maybe, they create good music. hat will be a welcome return from all the tosh I hear these days. I saw them at V in Weston and it was the highlight of the weekend for me. 'Love Is Noise' is putting bands like Scouting for Girls to shame.

Buy or download their albums from the nineties before making idiotic judgements.

And the article title could've easily been "The Verve Will Go Forth".. you know.. :p

dieloony2 :
There biggest single was essentially a rip off of the orchestral version of the last time by rolling stones. I never really heard any other song by this band but i don't expect much

ZeppelinruleZ :
Their first album, a storm in heaven was epic, some of the best shoegazer music you will eve hear. After that, each album hung onto their shoegazer roots but slowly became more and more commercial. Still love every album though and i'm definetely looking forward to this one

good call. their three albums so far are all excellent rock albums, with the whole spaced-out thing going on

Dieloony - FFS go on youtube, search the last time by the rolling stones. THE ORIGINAL. It is hardly a soundalike, yes, it was sampled from the orchestral version. But why did Jagger/Richards get the money for "Bittersweet Symphony" if it was written primarily by Brian Jones??! It should have gone to his estate! Furthermore, many, many songs are sampled, hell, the Verve had permission but were stabbed in the back! If you haven't heard anything else from them, don't come into the lion's den of Verve fans trying to disprove a band based upon one song when you don't even know what you're talking about.

Bittersweet Symphony is the best song Jagger/Richards have done in 30 years. :p

listen to their songs enough before you come up with this sort of crap.

and Oasis actually dedicated one of their albums 'to the genius of richard ashcroft'...

I just got their album (I preordered it) and its awesome. The Verve have long been one of my favourite bands and Forth has only proved that my long wait for it wasn't wasted. Now all I need is for them to come to New Zealand...we do have the Big Day Out next year.

People give the verve a chance and you will see how they are one of the best bands in the world just now aswell as the best live act today.

skippy_moogoose :
I wouldnt call songs like Gravity Grave or All in the Mind like Oasis, see, those songs have musical depth, Oasis have no depth whatsoever, in my opinion of course.

The Verve are amazing, period

Repitition :
It's amazing how fast people are to judge bands. You hear one song and assume you can judge their entire catalogue.

Lucky Man, Sonnet, The Rolling People, Come On, Blue, She's a Superstar, This is Music, History, On Your Own, Gravity Grave and the Drugs Don't Work. This band is more than just Bittersweet Symphony.

i loved the first half of Urban Hymns but thought it trailed off pretty quickly from there

huge fan of Richard Ashcroft as a talented musician/songwriter...but i don't realy like the majorty of The Verve's stuff too much.

and before people flame me...i have listened to pretty much everything they've done.
and it's mostly just not my thing
don't assume people don't know anything just 'cause you think you're their "super-fan"
people have opinions

It's always cool to hear of a band coming back together to form the mecha they used to combine into all the time, back in the day

Wonder if they'll make their own melodies and get paid for their own album this time...

They didnt even right Bitter Sweet Symphony. They stole so much of it they dont even have writing credits for it, and that was the one song I liked by them.

Willdo89 :
Someone here said that they were stabbed in the back about Bittersweet Symphony and I totally agree. They asked the permission to use a sample of The Last Time, but after that, they were accused of using too much of the sample by the same persons. Otherwise, they're one of my favourite bands of all time... However, Forth needs several listens before revealing its potential.

absolutely awesome at the Vfestival , one of the greatest bands ever, maybe you have to be english to get it but, they touch something deep inside me.
love 'The Last Time ' but, Bittersweet is on a whole different level of importance to many, many people.

If Bittersweet Symphony hadn't been a hit, would the Rolling Stones have b*tched about it?
