Travis Barker, drummer for Plus 44 and formerly for Blink-182, was severely burned this weekend after the plane he was traveling in crashed shortly after take-off. Also injured during the crash was famous DJ Adam AM Goldstein. Both are being treated for severe burns but are expected to make a full recovery.
Unfortunately the four remaining passengers on the plane were killed in the accident. This includes pilot
Sarah Lemmon, 31, and co-pilot
James Bland, 52, as well as
Barkers assistant
Chris Baker, 29, and his security guard
Charles Still, 25.
The musicians were traveling in a private jet heading from South Carolina to California on Friday night, September 19th. Officials speculate that the plane blew a tire when it overran the runway and skidded out onto the highway where it crashed into an embankment.
One eye-witness reports seeing a fireball speeding across the road a few hundred yards ahead of him. Once he arrived on the scene and called for help he says he remembers seeing Barker and Goldstein standing in the middle of road engulfed in flames and desperately trying to put each other out. He claims that Goldstein told him of the remaining four passengers on the plane, but the flames were too strong at that point for him to do anything.
The two are being treated at Joseph M. Still Burn Center in Augusta, Georgia. Theyre being treated for 2nd and 3rd degree burns, but are expected to make a full recovery. They did not sustain any other injuries in the accident.
