U2 and Green Day have re-enacted the seminal front cover of The Beatles "Abbey Road," reports Gigwise.
It happened when they were in the coveted studio together last week, recording their version of The Skids' "The Saints Are Coming."
Apparently Bono and Co. thought that it would be a good idea to draft in U2 photographer Anton Corbijn to recreate the seminal snap.
According to MTV, the photograph captures
Green Day and
U2 walking over the zebra crossing from opposite directions before shaking hands in the middle.
It’s not yet clear whether the image will be used on the front cover of the single cover of "The Saints Are Coming" if it was ever released.
U2 and Green Day are set to perform the song together at a ceremony at the Superdome in New Orleans on November 25.
In related news, Billie Joe Armstrong has worked with Gibson Guitars to create a model of his 1956 Les Paul Junior for sale to the general public.
The guitar is available in three different finishes; Vintage Sunburst, Ebony, and Classic White. The guitar was built to look very similar to Armstrong's 1956 Les Paul Junior, which he named "Floyd."
Other features include a mahogany body, wraparound bridge, an H-90 stacked double-coil pickup in the bridge, a 1960's slim-taper mahogany neck, rosewood neck (ebony on Classic White finish), Armstrong's signature on the back of the headstock, and one volume and one tone knob. The guitar defines both the simplicity and ferocity of Armstrong's playing style. The price of the guitar is yet to be disclosed to the public.
