Velvet Revolver are considering singer Jimmy Gnecco from the band Ours as their new frontman.
Gnecco's name was revealed by drummer Matt Sorum. "[The band are] sitting in a room looking at a singer named Jimmy Gnecco, so we'll see how that goes," he told The Vine.
He added that Velvet Revolver's immidiate future is not clear because of Slash's solo commitments while he records and tours a forthcoming album, and explained more about how the supergroup first started.
"A friend of mine passed away. I had a tribute concert. I couldn't get Ozzy because Ozzy wasn't available … I called Slash and Duff and asked if they'd come and play. We got together, Steven Tyler came, Josh [Todd] from Buckcherry sang. And Cypress Hill — those guys got up, which was kind of weird … But it came up killer, and the crowd just loved it.
"The next day Slash and Duff were like, 'Okay, let's do something.' That was the beginning of Velvet Revolver."
Sorum adds that he plays a leading part in the band, unlike his time in Guns N' Roses.
"I was really a leader in [Velvet Revolver]. Slash and Duff have always kind of taken my voice, even though I was never really represented in that way back in Guns N' Roses — I was always that guy behind the scenes," he said. "I was helping pick the producer, picking the mixer, picking the songs and a lot of the business end of things. I think I was a bit paranoid in a way, too. I didn't want to screw it up: 'Let me help. Maybe if I help we won't screw this up.'"

What?
They had other videos up before, of this guy playing live with Slash and the gang.
Those were much better, especially in regards to Velvet Revolver. He sang It's so Easy and some other songs and he seemed to be a bit more suitable for the band than this falsetto performance (which is great but it won't mesh well with the band).
Wow his voice is splendid in that video, surely good for some ballads but also for some hard rocking songs from Velvet Revolver? We'll have to see, hope Velvet Revolver find someone that fits the band vocals soon...
I think it would be a good fit. I can really see myles Kennedy also. Since Myles done a lot of work with slash lately.
Dude, Myles would end up working himself to death if he sang for VR. Of course there is Alter Bridge, Myles has talked about a solo album, he's touring and recording with Slash...adding VR to his schedule would probably be way too much.
They should probably look for a lead guitar player too because Slash doesnt give a crap aabout VR. He is having plenty of success with his solo career and he has the singer(Myles) he always wanted anyways.

Then it wouldn't be VR. Slash was probably the reason that they took off. Everybody wanted to hear him play after GNR. I would say that Myles would be great, but he's already refused.
I think the whole thing died with Scott Weiland leaving the band.. It's like listening to both Slash's Snakepit albums and compare them with each other.. It holds somekind of expectation that just isn't right.. It are different people, why not change the name? It's like Axl is still whispering "hold on to the name.." and he keeps getting pissed off when people wear Slash shirts to his new GNR concerts.. And it's true that it's not cool for Ashba, but come on, with a name you got certain expectations.. Hope this Gnecco dude delivers..
His voice is incredible, the song's a bit soft, if Velvet are going to produce some it's not going to be anything like this. It's gotta be more rock and roll. I think Steven Tyler will be better!
i never undestood the power of big bands stealing other bands' singers. Does no one have integrity anymore?
They're a supergroup, that's how it works. And you have to get somebody that's in a band somewhere regardless. I'd rather not hire somebody to front my famous band that's never done it before.

If 'everyone' just wanted to hear Slash play, explain the Slash's Snakepit albums and their (non)success, along with the underwhelming response to Slash's Blues Ball, etc.
Also, thank Fuck that Myles said no.
For one thing: he's got too much going on. Velvet Revolver moves slow enough without a singer.
For another thing: he's quite possibly the mist over-rated rock singer, ever.
He's an ok performer -- nothing special, and gives a lazy performance more often than not.
Those two songs on Slash's album are alright/pretty good, but, aside from that, his songwriting skills are lacking, at best.
Hopefully, this new Slash album will prove me wrong (about his songwriting) and show that he can consistently write good material. However, then it would just lead to questioning what has kept him from it all this time.
But no matter how that album turns out, he will always have a kind of annoying voice, and he will probably always perform lazily.

1) Slash's solo stuff is extremely successful. Although I think Slash is overrated, I guarantee he can outplay you and I'm sure you're just jealous of that fact.
2) If anything, Myles Kennedy is UNDER rated. The man has a phenomenal voice. Again, you're just jealous so it makes you feel good to talk crap on him.
Honestly, I think they should have gone with Corey Taylor. I think he had a lot that he could have brought to the table with these guys. Funny how they say they didn't like him and he says they wanted him in the band but he was already committed to Stone Sour and Slipknot stuff and didn't have any time for a third band.
Not sure why so many people want Miles Kennedy. He's a great singer, seen him twice with Slash, and he's awesome with the solo/snakepit/guns stuff, but struggles with the attitue of Scott Wielend's VR voclas. This guy seems similar.
Also, I don't see what this lip-syncing video has to do with anything.
Before Velvet Revolver was heard, did everyone go checking out The Magnificent Bastards to see how Weiland would sound and then compare it to The Neurotic Outsiders?
Velvet Revolver might do a song like this, but overall, this gives no indication of how he could fit with the band, in any way.
Go check out the songs he played with them at the Road Recovery Benefit show if you're actually curious to see how he does with the band.

Ok?
Since I am aware that Slash's endeavors between GNR and VR weren't well-received by the general public, that mean I must not have liked them, which, in turn, means I'm jealous.
However, I never once said I didn't enjoy that stuff. Actually, as far as Slash's input in those projects, I enjoyed them thoroughly.
Also, Myles Kennedy is extremely over-rated. He might not be over-rated (or even well-known) in the general public's eye, but out of the people who know who he is, you rarely encounter someone who likes him just a little. It seems, if you're aware of him, you're either slightly annoyed by his voice (seemingly the minority) or you would give your left testicle to let him stick it in your pooper (seemingly the majority).
I know; I'm exaggerating, but it's not that far off, either. His voice is not 'phenomenal'. He has an average range, and his voice is nasal. His songwriting is average, at best, even though most of it is not good.
Also, it's a good thing that you're not a lawyer, because that whole 'dislike = jealousy' argument wouldn't work the first time you tried it, let alone for every time.
Or maybe I'm wrong. Maybe you really don't hate Justin Bieber's music -- you just wish you had a pair of purple shoes like his.
I would think it would be rad to see Lenny Kravits team up with Velvet Revolver… this guy Jimmy Gnecco, I've never heard of him before but from this video on here I'm not seeing how be could fit in with Slash and co. He's got a good voice but maybe I need to hear some other tunes from him, some heavier stuff
Oh... **** yes!! I'm very impressed! been listening to him in "Ours" since reading this article earlier this morning. If this is seeming to be their choice, it's a much better fit than Corey Taylor would have been. No disrespect to Taylor, he's a great vocalist, but I feel he completely lacks "sexy" in his voice, which is a huuuuge deal with Velvet Revolver. This belts it well
I went to an Ours show once. It was the most ridiculously pretentious performance I've ever seen. He had a 45 minute intro and I am not exagerating. He does have a set of pipes though.
And Matt Sorum needs to stop taking tips from chris angel on how to dress himself.

If u don't like Alter Bridge's style, don't judge Myles songwriting in it.. Because I'm into that style, and Alter Bridge tops that genre easily.. Myles has also been in several blues/Jazz bands.. Listen to those, and judge than about his songwriting..

Would you tell me not to call Twilight a shitty movie because I'm not into teenage supernatural romance?
It may even be the best in its genre, but it doesn't mean the movie doesn't suck.

It's semi-well-made; that doesn't mean the movie doesn't suck.
I'm not saying they are in direct correlation with each other. I'm not even saying Alter Bridge sucks, necessarily -- just making a simple analogy that's not really that far off-base.

I like the fact that they're more melodic than most popular modern hard rock, at times, but they're a lot like Shinedown mixed with Creed mixed with a touch of heaviness, to me. Creed used to be alright, but I never liked Shinedown.
I'm still looking forward to Slash's new album, though.
Seeing the Road Recovery vids has given me hope for the future of VR. I think they're at a point now where they can't just stop looking for a singer, you know. It's like Chinese Democracy: it all took ridiculously long but if Axl had called it off then everyone would just be left to wonder about what might have been. After all the stuff that's been said about this topic and after all those years of rumors you can't just say "let's just forget about this". I'm sure Velvet Revolver will find a singer and I think this guy just might be cut out for the job.
They should bring in Myles and stop Slash's solo stuff after the current project. It's not it's even a solo effort at this point; Myles is doing a lot of the writing anyway.
I would love Myles in VR but I almost like it better that he's doing Slash's solo album, I wish even more that Corey Taylor took the gig, could you Imagine an Alterbridge, Slash, Velevet Revolver, Slipknot super show. I at least hope they eventually release the recordings Corey did with VR

I'm sure u didn't really took time to listen to them.
Anywyay, Slash's solo record will prove what an amazing songwriter Myles is, because is having a big influence in the writing proces (not like the other 2 songs he did on Slash's previous record)
Sorry to hurt anybody's feelings here, but I personally don't like Myle's voice live. He's quite alright in the studio, but he's just missing that little bit that keeps him from being great. I think his voice is a little too high flying and operatic like Bruce Dickinson, and it doesn't fit the raw, edgy sound that velvet revolver is good at. If you listen to Slash live with Avenged Sevenfold, he performed "it's so easy" with M Shadows and it worked really well. A guy like M Shadows has the right kind of voice for that kind of rock. A kind of voice that works with Appetite for Destruction and the first Snakepit album, which I think were the best two albums slash ever made. Slash's bluesy, gritty hard rock works well with a guy that has a powerful, gritty voice that can still show a lot of emotion without getting operatic.
tl;dr = Slash and VR need a gritty, powerful lead vocalist, not somebody like Myles.
I can understand people not being into Myles voice. Its kind of a throwback to the eighties high register like Sebastian Bach. But you should really check out live in Stoke, the recent live album from Slash and Myles. I think he does a real nice job with some difficult songs like Rocket Queen and Nightrain. I also think his style fits with Slash very nicely. I actually think he sounds better with Slash, and thats coming from a HUGE Alter Bridge fan. Either way some like his voice and some dont and thats cool. I really dont like the over/under rated argument , it doesnt make sense to me when your talking about a subjective topic as music. It makes you feel good and you like it or it dont. Rock ON
This guy is not an option for VR, they need somebody new.
They shouldn't steal a singer from an other band. If you want to create your own stile/sound you should have your own singer.

thank you for stating your opinion in a mature manor, I disagree but we all have our preferences, picking a new singer is hard because you can't please every single fan, I just hope drowning pool makes it out of 2012 with a good singer
Honestly I think they need someone with balls to be their frontman, someone that will make them an in your face straight up rock n' roll band. I'm not bagging this singer or anything but if you watch the videos where he sung with all these guys you will see he has no stage presence he just stood still and sung.
I recommend I guy called Simon Kruz from CrashDiet that dude has amazing pipes and is phenomenal on stage.
However if they want someone with a good raw rock voice but not like the sleazy rock they could go with someone like Toby Rand that guy can own a stage and has an incredible voice.
Again I'm not bagging this singer but there are better choices out there to fill the spot.
By the time they announce a new lead singer, Weiland will have made up his mind and chosen to come back to VR.
Just sayin'... This whole process has taken maybe too long... But again, MY personal opinion.
Hell no, Myles is staying with Alter Bridge which in my opinion is a better band, he's just touring with Slash its not like he's gonna be part of Velvet Revolver.
I want Myles to. He is just great and proofed to be a perfect match for Slash. The guys from Alter Bridge should concentrate on Creed again and release him to VR
Ours? Do you think his band ironically told VR at some point, "don't take him, he's Ours?" sorry, stupid band name, seriously dumber than most new deathcore bands. anyyywaayyyysss, i agree with VR calling it quits if they don't go with this guy. they are a thing of the past and should move on if they can't get their shit together
A lot of people still seem to want Myles to join VR, I did too about a year ago but changed my mind because:
1. Myles is far too busy to even think about another 'project'.
2. He's already said no.
3. I gave Alter Bridge a listen... they became my favourite band. Some people might not like them, but they haven't got one of the most dedicated fan-bases in music for nothing...
