Velvet Revolver Lays Down 12 New Jams

Velvet Revolver Lays Down 12 New Jams

Velvet Revolver bassist Duff McKagan has posted a message on the web site of his side project Loaded stating that VR has finished "laying down 12 new jams" at the studio of the group's drummer, Matt Sorum. No further details were provided.

Velvet Revolver announced that it was parting ways with singer Scott Weiland on April 1 due to his "increasingly erratic on-stage behavior and personal problems." Weiland told The Associated Press earlier this week that the split with Velvet Revolver and the reactivation of his previous band, Stone Temple Pilots, happened around the same time, explaining, "I had talked to (Velvet Revolver guitarist) Slash, mentioned it to him, and things were cool for a while. And this last tour, things just disintegrated really badly. I just came to the point where I decided that...if I'm going to commit the next 10 years of my life to touring...then I want to do it with people I want to make music with."

Velvet Revolver has not yet announced a replacement for Weiland.

In other news, McKagan has hinted on the Loaded web site that the band he formed after he left Guns N' Roses is planning on hitting the road later in the year. "UK, you up for a late summer/early fall tour? Spain? Italy?" he wrote on the site.

Loaded is currently working on a new, yet-to-be-titled studio album, to be released in the summer.

Loaded was formed in 1999 and has morphed several times, releasing two albums: 1999's "Live Episode" and 2001's "Dark Days". The group's current lineup includes drummer Geoff Reading (New American Shame, Green Apple Quickstep), bassist Jeff Rouse and guitarist Mike Squires (both formerly of Alien Crime Syndicate).

Thanks for the info to Blabbermouth.net.

Scott's only been gone from the VR for about a week or two now and they already finished laying down 12 new jams. Looks like Scott was holding VR back. Their last two albums kind of bored me but I'm going to be a little more optimistic for the next one, hopefully they get a kickass lead singer. My first choice would be John Garcia from the band kyuss and many other stoner rock bands. Sure he sings in a different genre then what VR is use to but his voice and singing style is kinda like Scott's but only better. I can just picture him singing along to VR and taking the band to an entirely different level.

So...the new album better be like Contraband.
Imho Libertad had nothing on Contraband.

Their last 2 albums?
So basicly: you don't like VR?

I hope Slash goes back to the Les Paul through a Marshall amp I love that sound! Libertad had some good songs but it just wasn't the sound i was expecting I'll be waiting in line for this CD no doubt tho!

the first sensible and diplomatic thing that weiland has said over this entire break-up thing. Hopefully he's over taking uncalled for and unwarrented digs at VR so that everyone involved can move on. VR with their new singer and scott with STP

+1 Libertad was pretty good but Contraband was awesome!

Guess who won't buy the new album?!
Well, I don't know. I might. Depends on the vocals, and if it's going to be more like Contraband. I loved Libertad, but I honestly think that Contraband was an all-around better album.

But I've gotta say - I'm far more excited about STP coming out with a new album than these guys.

maybe they were upset because scott was taking them on a similar journey that STP did (remember their change in sound from Purple to Tiny Music?). I like Libertad though, but then again, I love STP.

Good luck to them though. Whitfield Crane maybe? Let's be honest, Another Animal was great but I doubt we'll see a second album.

What's with all the hate on Libertad? It was a good album, different from Contraband, but still a great piece of music.

I use to be a big VR fan, I have their contraband album but I just got bored of it fast. And I heard their newer album and I like a few of the songs but it was still a disappointment for me. I wouldn't go as far to say that I hate VR, I just wish they would go into different directions and experiment a bit more. They are capable of doing alot better. Their last 2 albums sound too over produced and commercial for me. But I do like songs like sucker train blues, set you free and get out the door.

I guarantee it is all garbage.

The only thing Velvet Revolver has brought this world is the riffs to Slither and Fall to Pieces (which Slash could have done on his own)

i dont reckon they are looking for another Scott Weiland or someone similar to him. i'd assume they are going with whoever they can find that perfectly fits the bill to them.

Is that so? You listened to Libertad at all?

Anyway, I think it's great that STP and VR are being so productive, even if it did take a little mess to get Scott where he belongs and VR in the shape they're in. I really love both bands, I can't wait to hear this stuff.

Ah yes, Libertad. Lacking all hard rock whatsoever except Spay. :/

She Builds Quick Machines had an excellent Riff,Bridge, pre Solo and awesome solo and chorus one of my favorite hard rock tunes ever.

American man solo was balls out fkn cool too, Libertad was a collections of songs that for the most part shouldn't have been on the same cd but rather dispersed through a few while retaining their image of Hard Rock.

gotta say, i'm so happy about stp being back, and i'm also excited to see what's in store for VR. great group of musicians, whatever they put out will be quality. Contraband was a better album personally for me, but libertad was also great. Let it roll is a perfect rock n' roll song. And VR owned when they performed live! saw them twice.

For those expecting anything like Contraband... Hard luck. They will have a new lead singer. OBVIOUSLY the singer will have a say in the sound of the album. The album may rock, but it probably won't sound anything like either of the two previous albums. Here's hoping Chris Cornell gets the position.

It's funny how you quoted Slither, Fall to Pieces, and Spay...wait, those are the singles...aren't they?

Listen to the whole album before you post comments like that. Sucker Train Blues was a good one, as well as Set Me Free.

Yes I know they only have 2 albums so far and I got that song title mixed up cause I haven't heard it in a while. The contraband album is currently sitting in my room collecting dust.

VR should get Chris Steele from the band Sex and Patriotism. He is from Michigan and he is an amazing singer. I think he would fit in with VR very well.

Yeah that'd be sweet.

But it'd be even better if it was the Chris Cornell of '91. There were some Godly vocals.
