Weezer Deny They're Recording New Album |

Weezer have denied rumours that they're recording a new album.
It had been previously reported that the band were to head into the studio next month, but guitarist Brian Bell has now claimed that "someone jumped the gun".
"We're still going to focus on promoting the 'Red' album, and when we have the songs and the time feels right, we'll record [again]," he told spinner.com.
Weezer released their last, self-titled album, nicknamed " The Red Album", on June 30.
Bell also revealed he was planning to put out an album by his side project The Relationship, but had no definite release date.
"It would be kind of silly to put a timeline on a record that we felt wasn't ready," he said.
Thanks for the report to Nme.com.

: They need to take some time and make a CD that gets back to their former glory. Red is better than Make Believe, but neither touch any of their previous albums POSTED: 10/14/2008 - 11:59 am / quote |

Geez, for real. I agree with Brian Bell. Not much else to say other than to let them do their thing.POSTED: 10/14/2008 - 12:10 pm / quote |

I much preferred Red to Green, actually.
Anyway, they only just came out with an album, I'd be pretty surprised if they were recording again already, or at least with anything other than preliminary ideas and demos.
Plus, they need to come to the UK first.POSTED: 10/14/2008 - 12:16 pm / quote |

: I don't understand how anyone could think that they would be back in the studio yet...
I suppose their tour was VERY short, and it does end at the end of the month. BUT we all know Weezer throws curveballs all the time...hiatus here, solo project there. Rivers is an awesome musician, but sometimes I hate how unpredictable he is with his decision making.
But I have to say, I saw them in Rosemont/Chicago on the 2nd, and it was an amazing show, every band member had time to shine...literally every member sang at least 2 songs entirely, they really have a cohesive element that allows them to do whatever and make it sound great.POSTED: 10/14/2008 - 12:17 pm / quote |

: Ummm....from the last Weezer article...titled "Weezer plan next album" :
"Drummer Pat Wilson tells Billboard.com that the quartet plans to start recording the follow-up to this year's "Weezer" (aka "The Red Album") in early November. "
I don't mind either way but this hopping back and forth gets really annoying, the same with the Led Zeppelin reunion news.POSTED: 10/14/2008 - 12:29 pm / quote |

: Just a couple years ago they denied that they were recording the red album. They claimed that they were finished as a band for the time being.
I'm sure Rivers has something up his sleeve as we speak! That man is always up to something crazy.POSTED: 10/14/2008 - 12:56 pm / quote |

: The Greatest Man That Ever Lived is easily one of the top 5 songs Weezer has ever made, in my opinion. I don't see how people can listen to that song and thing the album sucks. Dreamin', Heart Songs, and Automatic are also amazing.POSTED: 10/14/2008 - 05:29 pm / quote |

: aren't they supposed to break up first?
I thought the Red Album was awful. 5 good songs, 5 atrocious ones, but it was still better than Make Believe. Pinkerton and Maladroit are 2 great albums, and the Blue album is one of the best albums ive ever heard.POSTED: 10/14/2008 - 06:11 pm / quote |
