Will American Idol Spawn Next Velvet Revolver Singer?

Will Velvet Revolver perhaps find their new lead singer via American Idol? Slash has insisted "no way", but given this week’s performance by contestant Adam Lambert, he may want to rethink his position.

As reported by MusicRadar, as part of the TV show’s "Rock Week," Lambert belted out Led Zeppelin’s "Whole Lotta Love" with such authority even the normally staid Simon Cowell was bowled over.

Prior to the performance Lambert was coached by Slash, who apparently dissuaded the singer from ad-libbing during his fireball rendition of the Led Zep classic.

Whether or not Slash and Lambert buddied-up enough to make Lambert a viable candidate for the VR gig is anyone’s guess, but talent-wise, the singer seems to have the goods.

Lambert is an AWESOME singer. I hope he does join a rock band after this, because I'd hate if his vocal talents got wasted in the pop world.

As to being the next VR singer...not gonna happen. Would it be cool? Maybe. I saw an interview from...I don't know how long ago, where this guy talked to Duff McKagan about it, and Duff was like, "I don't know the guy. No. Not considering him"...but this was before the "Whole Lotta Love" performance.

If he were to join VR, I'd definitely be keeping an ear to it.

Agreed, this is just someones opinion. I don't think any of the contestants would do even decent in Velvet Revolver, none of them seem like the type to sing in a band like that. If they did pick him though, id be glad that im not a big Velvet Revolver fan, if I was id be pretty pissed....

I saw the performance and afterwards that randy guy says "you should record an album with Slash" and Slashs face was like "umm...no!" haha (slash mentored the singers that day on the show)

just listened to that guy's "performance" of the song in American Idol. I cannot believe people thought that was good. That was one of the shittiest versions of that song ever.. and I've seen many.
