The English hard rock band The Darkness enjoyed two highly successful albums before breaking up in 2006 when frontman Justin Hawkins left the band. Hawkins formed a new band, Hot Leg, while the remaining members of The Darkness went on to create Stone Gods. After five years, it looks like the original members of the group may finally be reuniting to record their third album.
While there has been no official announcement as of yet, all signs are pointing towards the band's reformation. In addition the band making an (apparently) authentic Facebook group, they have also created
a new website.
According to the Twitter accounts of Stone Gods and Hot Legs, both bands have also conveniently announced that they are on hiatus. The Sun also reported a couple of months ago that Justin and his brother Dan Hawkins were demoing material that could potentially turn into the next album.
But while there is plenty of evidence, Justin Hawkins seems to be avoiding giving a straight answer. On Twitter he seemed to shoot down rumours of an appearance at the 2011 Download Festival and has told fans to be patient. More recently he posted the following: “Impatience has the potential to undermine everything. Chill out and stop sneaking around!”
So is Justin Hawkins simply trying to avoid ruining the surprise of a planned The Darkness reunion, or is all of this just wishful thinking?
