There's been some truly awful and inappropriate cover songs throughout modern musical history, but there's one in particular which really grates on rock fans.
A poll by Rolling Stone chose Miley Cyrus and her cover of Nirvana's 'Smells Like Teen Spirit' as the worst cover of all time. Miley was slammed by Nirvana fans for attempting the song on a tour in April.
Speaking about Nirvana as an introduction to the performance, Miley said: "Without them, I wouldn't be here. They're the ones who gave me the strength and courage to do this, and I hope that I can be that person for you guys. More than anything else in the world I want you guys to follow your dreams, because it's the only way to make life worth living, I promise you that."
The album 'Nevermind' was released one year before Miley was born.
She proceeds to butcher the song with her country drawl like a broken auto-tune unit, and tries headbanging and jumping to fit in with the song. But props to the band, who can certainly play with attitude - Miley can certainly afford good musicians.
Watch a video of the performance in the player below, and if you can think of a worse cover song, share a link in the comments so we can round them up for a future post.
What gives them the right to think they can judge people? All that magazine does is fill its readers heads with prejudice and elitism. Live and let live. There's no need for any type of alienation.
Horrible? Yes. Worst all time? Nope. I'm sorry but Limpbizkit's "Behind Blue Eyes" is the worst. I know this thread will turn into mindless debating but taking out the middle section of what is widely considered a classic song and spelling out your band name instead deserves a lot of votes for worst ever.
I mean, Britney Spears (I love Rock and Roll) and Mariah Carey's (Bring on the Heartbreak) were pretty dull and anemic, but I don't think they ever performed those songs live acting like they were recovering from a jug of bad Spanish Fly.
This is rubbish, right and simple.
Oh and her trousers sucks a lot more than the whole cover, even if she suicidally decided to approach Nirvana music like some random Gloria Estefan's hit.
I think Vasco Rossi's cover of Creep could be a hard competitor to this.

Yeah, pretty much. Judging from the crowd reaction, I guess she pleased the crowd and that's what you're supposed to do if someone pays the outrageous ticket prices. But Adam Lambert covering Metallica was just going too far...

I started watching it expecting it to be decent and only chosen because "its Miley herp derp", But god damn that truly is freaking terrible. But I have seen MUCH worse.
Sorry, but Billy Corgan & his whiny bitch voice attempting to cover Fleetwood Mac's "Landslide" takes the cake on Worst Cover Of All Time.
lol whiny bitch voice! i like that song, but not enough to listen to it constantly.

Okay Pollyanna.
i had to look that up, but now that i did, that was awesome!
This is just silly. I wonder how many of those who voted actually listened to the cover, instead of just being annoyed that a contemporary pop star would dare cover a song from their precious rock canon.
Also, Limp Bizkit's "Behind Blue Eyes" is definitely worse.

This.
As far as my Nirvana hatred goes, and as I'm sick of this song, I must say, that this cover is quite decent. Didn't watch the video though, I only listened. I don't know, if it's been autotuned or not, but she hits the notes, her voice isn't too disturbing. Not awesome, but not terrible, and definitely not the worst

not the worst but it's pretty bad. This reminds me of a time when my band was playing a battle of the bands and one of the bands that were pklaying was a 2 peice instrumental band that did covers. It was horrible, they played American idiot but drummer didn't know what he was doing and the guitarist played it way too fast. I forget what they played after that, but that band will always hold the spot of worst cover ever. But to be fair they were only a local band that wanted a gig so, whatever i guess.
Nirvana's cover of "Heartbreaker" ****ing sucked ass and showed how bad Kurt Cobain sucks at guitar. My opinion of course, that is the worst cover ever.
Worst cover song is Avril Lavigne`s cover of Fuel by Metallica-.-
It wasn't that bad actually. Remember Snoop Doggs cover of Sad But True from the same show? Now That's the worst cover of all time!
Horrible? Yes. Worst all time? Nope. I'm sorry but Limpbizkit's "Behind Blue Eyes" is the worst. I read this Rolling Stone article weeks ago, this is just a sad attempt by UG to fill their news column with something they know will grab people's attention, increase hits. It really has nothing to do with anything.
I don't know. There's many trerrible covers out there but I think "Run to the Hills" covered by Sign off of the Kerrang Maiden Heaven tribute album was one of the absolute worst in my opinion. An utter abomination.
1. The author made a big deal of how good the band is. But seriously, a professional musician on tour in Rio from USA sure as hell ought to be able to play Smells Like Teen Spirit blindfolded, on drugs, with zero gravity, and whatever kind of other handicaps you can think of.
2. Crowd loved it. Brazil may have the worst musical taste in the world.
You know, I didn't think the fall out boy cover of beat it was all that bad. Patrick Stump actually has a pretty decent voice, and there aren't many vocalists that can get even close to singing Michael Jackson.
Granted, of Montreal's cover of it shits all over FOB's, but its a start.
It's not like she covered it to please music critics and trolls; She did it because she likes the song and wanted to play it to her musically challenged fans. I've heard worse covers than that and if someone wants to butcher a song I really don't care.
this is so ****ing hilarious.. if she was truly influenced into a career of music by the strength given to her by nirvana, why is she on a pop-teen kiddie show for all the little girlies to watch huh? apparently she didn't really understand kurt's message very well lol
Is this the worst cover song of all time because it was poorly excecuted, or is this the worst cover song of all time because they're fishing for all of the juveniles around here to whine about how much they hate Miley Cyrus?
wow, for all being guiatarists, you all have terrible ears. Her voice flattens and drops out of tune constantly, she croons the long notes but can't seem to hold them long at all. Her band is the only saving grace.
How can you guys not hear that, I almost peed myself when I heard her sing the chorus. The worst cover I have heard in a long time. You guys are just picking songs you hate, not bad covers. Get off UG's back, this one is 100% accurate. That is the worst cover I have ever heard.
What gives them the right to think they can judge people? All that magazine does is fill its readers heads with prejudice and elitism. Live and let live. There's no need for any type of alienation.
Yeah, pretty much. Judging from the crowd reaction, I guess she pleased the crowd and that's what you're supposed to do if someone pays the outrageous ticket prices. But Adam Lambert covering Metallica was just going too far...
The crowd seemed much happier during the intro, before she sang. Notice how they try their best to drown out her vocals with their own screams :p
"A poll by Rolling Stone" is all I needed to read.
Honestly, Miley and her crew of autotuning monkeys aren't that bad. The metal version of Party in the USA someone put on youtube is actually pretty appealing.
Kurt didn't kill himself b/c of the drugs, he shot himself b/c he knew people like Miley Cyrus would ruin his songs..I don't like Nirvana but no one deserves this..also, I would've chosen Six Feet Under's cover album of ACDC's Back In Black as the worst cover ever.
Don't worry, I take credit for killing Kevin Dubrow. My friends and I were jamming to Bang Your Head (Metal Health) and it was terrible, laughing all the way through the chorus. Sure, we were having fun, but then the report came out the next day that he was dead.....
Rolling stone is sh!te anyway. Still can't get over them not putting pink floyd in the top 100 bands of all time and never will. Also, they review live dvds all really low. Just sayin...
I don't like Miley's music or whatever, but that's not a bad cover. She sings the right notes and the band does a good job of reproducing the original.
You can't honestly say a cover is bad unless it's filled with bad notes and off beat drums. Also, a cover doesn't have to sound like the original!
it's definitely bad but not the worst. Celine Dion was terrible, Adam Lambert's Ring of Fire and his cover of a Led Zeppelin song (it was soooo bad i blocked it out and don't even remember the name). John Mayer's version of Free Fallin' is definitely there too (yeah that's i said it)But as for her listing Nirvana as an inspiration I find it false. I think she's just saying that because I hear no grunge in her pop-country crap.
That wasn't completely horrible, I'd at least give her an A for effort. Nonetheless, I didn't enjoy at all and she completely failed on head banging. I can't even imagine seeing her try to mosh.
I would go to any Six Feet Under cover of AC/DC for this one. It could be just me, but I HATE those.
Others that could contend are Lavigne's Fuel or Chop Suey, Limp Bizkit's Behind Blue Eyes, or one of my most hated covers, Bullet for my Valentine's Welcome Home (Sanitarium). I've hated every cover BFMV has done, but that is by far the worst.
Really, the only Metallica cover songs I've heard that are good are "Battery" by Machine Head and "Orion" by Mastodon.
But the Teen Spirit cover really isn't that bad. It's just Cyrus, which is why they chose it.
People are so retarded. OH NO SOME POP SINGER COVERED MY FAVORITE BAND, SHE SUCKS I HATE MAINSTREAM DERP!! Hey, guess who else is all over the radio? Yeah, Nirvana! Your beloved Cobain aint too far from Miley Cyrus.
As much as I can't stand nirvana, this was definitely not the worst cover as the original song is all right. I vote Celine Dion's AC/DC cover. *shudders*

This +100. It really wasn't that bad, guys. Get over it/yourselves.
I can't stand Miley Cyrus' music, but I did not think this cover was that bad. Yeah, it's not amazing, but it is no where near the worst ever. Snoop Dogg doing Sad But True on the other hand...
Wait, this is the worst cover?
Did you miss that MTV Idol show with Avril Lavigne covering Fuel by metallica?
And Sad But True being covered by SNOOP DOGG?!?!?!
Miley Cyrus > Gadaffi > Rolling Stone. Nuff said.
She's done better in a career than her dad, who wasn't (to be honest now) much more than a one hit wonder who people just know the name of. On that note, she's made a better career than 99% of you sandy vagina'd, angsty fanchildren on this forum. I love Nirvana. Who cares if she's influenced by them and wants to play one of their songs?
I was influenced into the musical world by Britney Spears and the Backstreet Boys. Does that now mean, 15 years on, that I'm not allowed to write heavy metal music?
Get over yourselves.
Seriously! Jurnag12 is so right. This is definitely not the worst cover. Listen to "Fuel" covered by "Avril Lavigne". It's just horrible. Poor Metallica, they even had to listen to that crap. The Cover done by Snoop Dogg isn't that bad though.
Did I hear someone say bad cover?!
I'm pretty sure I heard someone say bad cover!
You haven't heard bad, hell, you haven't even heard mediocre until you've heard THIS:
Wow...I'm 34 and feeling a little old because this song is 20 years old now and the next generation is doing this as a cover and I get the sense they have no clue what this song is about. Why should they. Miley Cyrus wasn't even born, but my point is I'm seeing it from a perspective of someone who grew up in that era.
The cover isn't something I care to listen to again, but Miley can do whatever she wants. I'm barely familiar with her music through my nephew. Her music never struck me as having staying power. Artist like her appeal to her generation of kids and kids grow up and forget all that stuff. Miley's time is coming soon and she may not be as big in the future as she is now, so she better make that money and save it. I would if I were her.....
Check out Worst Pink Floyd Comfortably Numb Cover on Youtube. It's not very often you get to see the drummer looking to the lead guitar player to keep the timing. And I use the words "lead guitar player" loosely.
Does she do the Elaine dance in this one? I don't feel like hearing it again.
I've heard her cover this before. It's not good, but it's not that bad -- awesome compared to the stuff she usually sings.
It's not hard to find worse covers than this, though.
The first one that comes to mind Train's version of Light My Fire... but it's still easy to find worse covers than that.
Jay-Z's attempt at Wonderwall is pretty awful -- definitely worse than this. And Wonderwall is a better song than Smells Like Teen Spirit in the first place.
S-s-s-s-seriously? I know Ms. Cyrus is lacking talent in some places, come now, that's just feeding the hate machine people seem to be jumping on. Sillyness.
Stevie Ray Vaughan covering Voodoo Child (Slight Return)...Lol jk that is my favorite cover ever! LB's "Behind Blue Eyes" was good. Worst cover ever, These Boots by Megadeth
GOTTA BE KIDDING!!!!
THAT COVER IS BETTER THAN THE FREAKING ORIGINAL!!!
1. no it's not better than the original . Alien Ant Farm got 15 minutes of fame off of MJ and that's all they deserve
2. This cover by Miley is horrible. The band does plat it decently, but this is just as bad as Courtney trying to cover Kurt imo. Ugh. No one covers Nirvana as good as Seether imo.
Honestly I can not stand any of todays pop acts. Miley, Bieber etc... How ever in saying that I have seen personaly and heard much worse covers. You have to listen to the song just as that... A SONG. And not compare to its original. In saying that ofcourse the original is better, but all in all its not the worst cover by ANY MEANS, and neither is Limp Bizkits Blue Eyes. And in some cases covers can actually be better than originals... Take Seethers Careless Whipser... A million times better the that George Micheal dude, or even Marylin Mansons covers... Im just saying.
i just love that radiohead refused to meet her backstage then she proceeds to say she is going to "ruin" then. lost all respect for her at that point. radiohead shits out miley cyruss on a daily basis. epic fail.

I really don't like Radiohead any more than I like Miley Cyrus.
there was a whole point behind that, it was meant to suck.
it was something to do with either Liam or Noel (can't remember which) saying Jay-Z shouldn't be playing Glastonbury for whatever reason, and they should, even though Oasis isn't exactly relevant music anymore. o he came out and did that as a middle finger to them showing that they're crap or something
What gives them the right to think they can judge people? All that magazine does is fill its readers heads with prejudice and elitism. Live and let live. There's no need for any type of alienation.
I got that piece of shit magazine over the summer for free and I called and cancelled my subscription after a few months. Its the most worthless piece of trash 'music' magazine to ever exist.
It sucks, but I think Adam Lambert's version of Born to be Wild would definitely give it a run for its money. Still, Rolling Stone is sinking pretty low to write something like that.
GOTTA BE KIDDING!!!!

1. Yes it is.
2. Seether covering Nirvana. Gee, that's a stretch.

they managed to take all of the emotion out of that song. Agreed 100%
Pulling a Wayne's World here: "It certainly does suck!"
..but honestly enough, as much of a Nirvana fan as I am, and the extensiveness of that i cannot express without showing personally, I can say that there are FAR worse covers. My former band being guilty. x)
.... What the hell? This really is the first time I no longer can give UG leniency. It's definately NOT the worst cover, or even a horrible one, just because it's Miley Cyrus. ;akdhfl;kasjf;lkdsjf;aldks Stupid.
Its not the worst cover of all time... Its just a big name pop/country artist covering a rock song.... Its not good and anyone can hear that... but calling it the worst is just a rock magazines ploy to sell to arrogant rock n roll elitist.
GOTTA BE KIDDING!!!!
THAT COVER IS BETTER THAN THE FREAKING ORIGINAL!!!
umm, no. You know what makes it worst? It was their only hit(and it sucked)

15 minutes of fame????
Only hit?????
Go back to your MTV you two, Alien Ant Farm is an excellent band with four amazing musicians.
I guess by "Nirvana fans" they mean 14 year old fanboys and the fact that they hate it just because it's cool to hate Hannah Montana and Justin Bieber. Otherwise your equally 'smart' friends will call you a fag..I personally think she fits the rock genre a lot better then pop that she sings. She'd be a pretty hot rock chick.
"Reach out and touch me!" Not only did Hillary Duff completely change the lyrics to Depeche Mode's Personal Jesus, but she covered it horribly as well. Plus the video is... less than desirable.
There's definitely worse. People just jump on pop stars when they cover songs because they hate pop.
Oceano covering "War" and Suicide Silence covering "Them Bones" are much, much worse.
Are you ****ing stupid??! One of the greatest SONGS of all time right there! Get the **** off this site! This cover blows ass but your idiot comment is even worse.
How can it be a bad cover when the song isn't even that good?[/quote]
I honestly was expecting Take Thats version of Smells like Teen Spirit, thats pretty awful. Avril Lavignes done some bad covers as well, she made Basket Case and Fuel unbearable to listen to
People only picked this because it's Miley. It's actually not a badly done cover. You may not like her singing style but she's in tune (not that Kurt ever put much effort into singing it in tune himself) and the band sound fine. SHOCKING NEWS, PEOPLE ARE ALLOWED TO LIKE AND PERFORM MUSIC OUTSIDE OF THEIR TYPICAL GENRES.
I feel bad for anyone who says they enjoy this horrible cover. This is a terrible vocal performance which sounds completely out of place, particularly as rest of her band do a good job.
So I agree her performance is garbage, but "worst cover song of all time"? I don't think so.
Coheed And Cambria covering The Trooper ¬¬ Lady Gaga covering Viva la Vida or Lavigne coveirng Chop SUey (She was Drunk ¬¬)i don't belive Any Metallica cover its not really Bad(MTV Icon: Metallica) de Lavigne Cover of Fuel it's just OKay Fuel it's not the Great Awsome Song of Metallica it just a single of one of the worst albums of them.. but wehatever just covers
Just gonna say that Miley is probably what Kurt was talking about when he referred to the corporate machine with regards to music. I don't like Nirvana and I even feel bad for Kurt with this being done.
What about every death metal cover of a non death metal song?
You definitely have a point.
I've just been watching some of the clips mentioned on this thread. I would honestly say that Jay-Z doing Wonderwall is the worst, because he's a tone-deaf, talentless idiot, but he was obviously messing around. Having said that, the worst one where the 'artist' seemed to be actually giving it an honest shot looked to be Snoop Dogg doing Sad But True.
Dishonorable mention to any cover Adam Lambert has done.
what the hell does rollingstone magazine know they say that kurt cobain is a better guitar player than ediie van halen and randy rhoads, i dont like miley that much but i think nothing from them should be taken that serious
I must the only one who actually enjoyed the Limp Bizkit covers of Sanitarium and Behind Blue Eyes. Sanitarium was well adapted to LB's own style, which I like out of a cover and without LB's cover of Behind Blue Eyes, I would have never known the original.
What gives them the right to think they can judge people? All that magazine does is fill its readers heads with prejudice and elitism. Live and let live. There's no need for any type of alienation.
Its just awful to listen that this shitty mainstream singer is singing this song, but you are right, live and let live
I was listening to KUPD here in Phoenix the other week, and they played a cover of a song from Pantera, Forgive me for I cannot remember the song for the life of me. But the artist that covered the song, kid you I not, was Justin Beiber. I think he takes the cake for the worst cover ever.
Puddle of Mudd - Shelter, any rock cover by P.Diddy, all those "samples" Kid Rock used were some of the worst covers I've ever heard. Landslide by Smashing Pumpkins is pretty bad and I admit that as a Pumpkins fan.
Worst cover song is Avril Lavigne`s cover of Fuel by Metallica-.-
Also, Limp Bizkit's cover of "Sanitarium" and Hatebreed's cover of "Escape".
WTF they covered Sanitarium? Sweet Jesus on a stick I'm only imagining what it sounds like and it's already bad. All of Avril Lavigne's covers suck balls too.
Madonna covering pantera was awful but i dont remember what song it was (thank god) but no one on here is saying really any rock bands are doing any horrible covers just apparently rappers and pop stars but every bullet for my valentine cover ive ever heard was awful and there supposed to be "metal" even though they cry themselves to sleep while cuttin their wrists
LMAO Choose a one off live cover as the worse of all time, it's not like she recorded it and put it on an album. There are much worse covers out there that were recorded in a studio, not on someones iphone... In all honesty it seemed like more of a monitor problem then anything. You cant sing on key or in time if you cant hear the music.
Looking that good I'd listen to her sing anything..... :-P
Okay, I admit that song was downright awful, but I can also think of...
Limp Bizkit -- Behind Blue Eyes
Britney Spears -- I Love Rock 'n' Roll
Sheryl Crow -- Sweet Child O' Mine
Britney Spears -- (I Can't Get No) Satisfaction
Any of the groups they got covering Metallica songs at the Metallica Icon event (Snoop covering Sad But True... What the hell?)
Arch Enemy -- Symphony of Destruction (tuning a song originally played in standard E to as low as they did sounded God awful
But the biggest offender is...
Celion Dion and Shakira -- You Shook Me All Night Long (And the both of them air guitaring made it even worse)
Also, what I don't get is Miley saying... "Without them, I wouldn't even be here today"... What the hell?
Worst cover song is Avril Lavigne`s cover of Fuel by Metallica-.-
It wasn't that bad actually. Remember Snoop Doggs cover of Sad But True from the same show? Now That's the worst cover of all time!
since he didn't know the words, does it really count as cover
Madonna covering pantera was awful but i dont remember what song it was (thank god) but no one on here is saying really any rock bands are doing any horrible covers just apparently rappers and pop stars but every bullet for my valentine cover ive ever heard was awful and there supposed to be "metal" even though they cry themselves to sleep while cuttin their wrists
Haha, look at this kid. What a card. I don't even like Bullet, but you sir just made your self UG's biggest tool.
- It seemed to work for the audience
- Band cared enough to use a daphne blue Fender Mustang with a red mother of bowling ball pick guard; doesn't look like it had the humbucker in the bridge or the modded bridge, but still shows attention to detail and pre-meditation
- This is a lot better than the Tori Amos cover of the same song, IMHO...
she was alright, ****ing hate musical biggots who hate music just because its "cool" or "in the scene" to hate on someone. grow up open your minds and like music for music. if you want to like music for image you really should only comment on it with your fanny boy mates and not try and pollute peoples general existence with your scene kid negativity. be positive love music, love life and take the pathetic negativaty out of your life .... safe!

And to think that they pu tPrimus on the 50 worst bands of all time so yeah Rolling Stone full of shit
I think the icon show to metallica was the worst compilation of covers ever recorded(except korn, of course)or shakira's nothing else matters..thats a pretty awful cover too
Horrible? Yes. Worst all time? Nope. I'm sorry but Limpbizkit's "Behind Blue Eyes" is the worst.
Agreed. Next article.
I agree; it's not THAT bad.

Well then again then again the people who made claim this is the worst cover ever are the same people who said Kurt Cobain and Keith Richards were better guitarists then Tony Iommi and Randy Rhoads! WTF Rollingstone! keep going Miley I still love you!
Nirvana's cover of "Heartbreaker" ****ing sucked ass and showed how bad Kurt Cobain sucks at guitar. My opinion of course, that is the worst cover ever.
I have no appreciation for miley cyrus or her style of music, and pretty much love every nirvana song....but like, this cover isnt lacking talent..i think its just the fact that it is miley that makes this so unpopular
Hmm what band should we pretend Miley likes to give her some credibility with fans and make her seem cool, instead of being, to quote Bill Hicks, a sucker of satans c*ck!
I just watched the Rock AM Ring vid of that performance, and i have to say it actually sounds pretty good.
Ive grown up around nickelback (their new stuff is HORRIBLE though) and ive never really been a fan of Metallica, though i respect them for what they've created, but i think most people's opinion on that cover is that its Nickelback doing it.
Miley's cover is pretty bad, but its still not the worse, e.g. Avril Lavigne's cover of chop suey by SOAD was butcherous to listen to *shivers*
What gives them the right to think they can judge people? All that magazine does is fill its readers heads with prejudice and elitism. Live and let live. There's no need for any type of alienation.
By saying that, you're judging them. Rolling stone has been one of the greatest music magazines for a long time and its articles on politics can be quite insightful, if obviously left-leaning. They're not afraid to tell it like it is. They said this was the worst one not because it's the worst musically, but that it's completely inappropriate for her to sing it, especially so badly.
people who cant... write... thus people at rolling stone cant and therefore shouldn't judge somebody who can and does. also... i love how when it comes to anything rock music people turn to rolling stone... wtf is up with that... clearly its a pile of poop paper that hasnt had very good taste in its articles since who knows when.... all RS is is a "whats trendy" publication that also leans towards the left in america n politics... bunch of poop!
I don't think the Miley Cyrus cover is that bad. I know she doesn't fit the bill for authentic, disillusioned Nirvana fan but she sings it pretty well and the band sounded decent. Not my cup of tea but solid.
Why are people slagging Miley Cyrus? Just because she sings pop songs, it doesn't mean she's a bad artist. She's quite good infact. Just because she's had a lot of success, it still doesn't mean she's a bad artist. Wake up and smell the coffee, Ultimate-guitar.
Listened to the Cyrus cover ... It's an average cover. I mean the band plays, she sings ... There's no over-the-top addition nor any wrong interpretation ... Of course, Miley Cyrus singing those lyrics is ironical, but when you think about it Cobain hated that song and skipped it during concerts. So, mainstream covering mainstream ... There's a logic in that.
Worst cover song is Avril Lavigne`s cover of Fuel by Metallica-.-
It wasn't that bad actually. Remember Snoop Doggs cover of Sad But True from the same show? Now That's the worst cover of all time!
I think every cover from that show could easily be nominated haha. That Snoop Dogg one was absolutely ridiculous but the Avril one was probably the least listenable.
Coming from a Bodom fan, the biggest slap-in-the-face terrible cover was when CoB did "Shot In the Dark". Miley is horrid, but I walked in here expecting that. Bodom should've been at least listenable. Yeah, yeah, they do covers as jokes, I know that, but "Lookin' Out My Back Door" and "Somebody Put Something In My Drink" were fantastic...
This isn't even that bad of a cover... I mean I'm sure I speak for most of us when I say Miley Cyrus is a pretty generic and bland pop artist. But at least they actually played the song There are bands who play covers in which they don't even actually play the song
Horrible?

There's no need for any type of alienation. By saying that, you're judging them. Rolling stone has been one of the greatest music magazines for a long time and its articles on politics can be quite insightful, if obviously left-leaning. They're not afraid to tell it like it is. They said this was the worst one not because it's the worst musically, but that it's completely inappropriate for her to sing it, especially so badly.
metallica covering 'whiskey in the jar' is a definite possibility! Love Metallica, but they just took the romance right out of that song!
bring on the haters . . . . . .
My thoughts exactly, Limp's behind blue eyes is a close 1st. Durst could of left out the faded rapping part out and it wouldn't of been half bad, nevermind, it still would have been.
GOTTA BE KIDDING!!!!
THAT COVER IS BETTER THAN THE FREAKING ORIGINAL!!!
umm, no. You know what makes it worst? It was their only hit(and it sucked)eljono123 wrote:

1. no it's not better than the original .
15 minutes of fame????
Only hit?????
Go back to your MTV you two, Alien Ant Farm is an excellent band with four amazing musicians.
1: You're obviously a fanboy(or one of the band members)
2: I won't argue with you since you can't see that they were an average band at best.
3: I hate MTV and havnt watched it since high school(almost 10 yrs now)
Atleast her voice sounds better then Kurt Cocaine's.
Yeah, dude, technical skill is what it's all about! Bob Dylan and Neil Young suck, too! I mean, who wants a voice that people can actually recognize?
Was that supposed to be sarcastic or an actual argument? Either way, you're a waste of genes, stop prying for attention like that.
His point was quite obviously that it's not all about technical ability, which is entirely true. Get your head out of your ass and stop needlessly insulting people.
I couldn't believe that i went through half of these comments before i saw Sheryl Crow's version of Sweet child of mine, she should just be shot for that, it's truly awful.
And to equal that is Madonna's American Pie, she should have known better. Some songs are just too good and American Pie is untouchable. Madonna Slaughtered that one about as bad a Sheryl slaughtered guns. Both equally horrible. Should be stricken from existence.
