It's incredible to look at the achievements of British rock band You Me at Six when you realise they are still only in their early '20s, and now with the imminent release of their fourth studio album early next year the group can only continue their ascent.
First single "Lived a Lie
" will be released on 21st October. It received its first radio play last night on Zane Lowe's Radio 1
show and the video has gone live at the band's website
. Recorded with Neal Avron
in Los Angeles the track signals a new maturity whilst maintaining their exacting ability to deploy an engaging riff with a killer hook, which collides into a brand new rock pop classic you think you've known for years. The track has also been included on the soundtrack for the biggest computer game release of the year "FIFA 14
" which is released end of September.
The band rounded off last year with their biggest show to date, a headline sold out night at Wembley Arena which saw them leave the cycle of the previous album, "Sinners Never Sleep
," their third gold album so far, on an exhilarating high. After a short break, and a new album deal with BMG in the bag, the band quickly got their heads down and started work on the follow up.
Channelling influences, and not just musically, as diverse and as ambitious as the Foo Fighters
, Arctic Monkeys
and Gaslight Anthem
, they relocated to Los Angeles for sessions much more relaxed and progressive than their previous release. With the confidence and clarity of a band ready for the next phase of their career You Me at Six set about writing and recording a genre spanning release to appeal to old fans and new.
With an upcoming US headlining tour imminent the five piece head back to Europe in November for Arena dates with 30 Seconds to Mars
. They then travel to the UK with 30STM before touring Australia in the New Year with Paramore
UK Headline dates are to be scheduled for early 2014.
