Awesome, awesome news. And DRM music is a kinda stupid idea, coz anyone can burn and rip...

If this turns into a slagging match about the virtues of downloading music illegally, I shan't be a happy boy.

I think he was implying the fact that DRM didn't really stop you doing much. Simply burning the tracks and then ripping them again would find you DRM free.

So it was just hassel rather than stopping piracy.

why buy music on the internet.. if you can buy an album for the same amount of money.. I'll defenitely stick on buying CD's!

i dont know about this...i mean, file-sharing networks will ahve anything that you want regardless of how DRM files are distributed. I think that this is all a ploy to charge people more money for the same thing that they could buy in a store. I think that it is a waste, and i am a marketing major in college, so, this is something i study all the time. They are doing a good job of pushing the people to buy this, all the while knowing that they can increase their profits. all some can hope for is that this calls off the dogs, so to speak, on piracy issues, but knowing they can make a buck doing it, i dont look for that to happen either.

I think i'll stick to downloading all my music. If i really like a band, i always support them and buy their CD, but for most of them, i just find the CD's online, with no loss of sound quality, and no money out of my pocket.

nope ... emi does a free upgrade for the same 30 cents ... twice as much quality and DRM-free

the real problem with DRM isn't the hassle guys ... it's the mess that it make ... remember that DRM rootkit Sony pirated all it's customers with last summer? any label that goes in a direction that indicates they understand the spirit of music rather than money has my vote ...

although, like stressfulpeace said, it's a pretty damn good marketing move as well XD

Rebourne :
CD's have higher quality and no noticeable DRM so you can just rip your own to as high as lossless and always have a hard copy with purdy artwork too.
