Google Improves Audio For Online Gigs
Google continues to improve its online music strategy with a new Studio Mode to improve audio for bands using a Google+ Hangout to perform to their fans. Studio Mode steps up the regular voice mode by streaming in stereo and processing the audio to make it clear and bright. Google has published a demonstration video which it recommends you try with headphones. Try it in the player below. "We wanted to make these live hangout concerts sound more like the stage, so today we're rolling out Studio Mode," wrote Google engineer Matthew Leske in a statement. "As a musician, all you need to do is start your Hangout On Air, click settings, and switch from Voice to Studio Mode." Elsewhere, Google has been seeking to appease the music industry after it complained that illegal file sharing sites were often more visible than legal alternatives in Google search results. Now Google will start to punish sites that infringe copyright by pushing them down the search results or banish them altogether. Watch the demo of Google's new Studio Mode streaming here:
