Music Streaming Almost Doubled in 2013, Report Confirms
A report by the Official Charts Company has revealed that music streaming almost doubled in the UK in 2013, NME notes. 7.4 billion songs were streamed by music services such as Spotify, Deezer, Napster, BlinkBox Music, Sony Unlimited, Rara, Xbox Music, Bloom and Music Qubed. This is up from the 3.7 billion reported in 2012.

The official top 10 most streamed songs are as follows:

1. Daft Punk – 'Get Lucky'
2. Bastille – 'Pompeii'
3. Robin Thicke – 'Blurred Lines'
4. Passenger – 'Let Her Go'
5. Avicii – 'Wake Me Up'
6. Macklemore – 'Can't Hold Us'
7. Naughty Boy – 'La La La'
8. Macklemore – 'Thrift Shop'
9. Imagine Dragons – 'Radioactive'
10. The Lumineers – 'Ho Hey'

Streaming has clearly become big business in the past year, something that not all artists are happy about. Thom Yorke infamously described the streaming service Spotify as "the last desperate fart of a dying corpse" back in October.
