Dancing Fool :
Dammit. Does that mean no more free downloads?

FLESH_INTO_GEAR :
the bands will set the price, so I guess most of the bands that already allow their songs to be downloaded will carry on letting a few of them go for free

Well bands who have set the songs for download im sure won't change their tune!

I mean theres no way you could sell demo's, the songs would have to be proper studio copies. Anyhoo, i like the idea seem's logical.

You'd better still be able to download for free...otherwise this is bullshit...don't we already have Itunes for this? Isn't Myspace already making enough ****ing money? This irritates me...

Some greedy son-of-a-b**** is gonna get on there and jack the prices up and then get ticked off 'cause nobody will buy their music.

The profits from selling the downloads goes to the band, not MySpace.

In the report he said something about IOWA to los angeles...is this going to operate in the u.k? Well it's a good idea as long as you can still listen to the shizzle for free I'd much rather buy a cd to be honest.

i don't think you can get garage bands off of limewire. but interesting fact, you can download limewire pro off of limewire.

i mean i like the idea in a sense... but then if a band plays a show the fans arent gonna buy the demo(which may or may not help to make a profit), their just gonna download it on myspace. Once I find out exactly how much myspace will take out for the service, I'm not totally sold on it. Say if you have a 5 song demo and you only have 3 songs sell($1 ea.), then you got phucked outta 2 bucks+ whatever myspace gets out of it.

Intresting... I'm excited to see how programs like iTunes music store and Rhapsody take this news. :]

hmmmmm. sounds like its going to change again.
its pathetic, brilliant and
its sick. They are going to use helpless garage bands to make millions, its going to be interesting to see how music studios and such adapt...

As long as the artist gets a good amount of the money. not like itunes where the artist only get 9 cents
POSTED: 09/05/2006 - 01:01 am / quote |
autorelocator :
*9 cents per song that is

Sounds interesting. My band's got a space. I'd probs keep all 3 up for listening with 1 to download like now, and charge a quid for the other two. Band's called Double entity by the way, if anyone fancies checkin us out. GNR style.

(Yes I'm a shameless self promoter :P)

i would have thought that most bands would realise that myspace is a useful tool for allowing people to listen to their music and that a lot of kids will get put off by paying. i dont tihnk most bands will change things too much

i am annoyed this is happening though. more evidence of a bloke in a suit seeing myspace (and music in general) as a money making opportunity. not everyone thinks like that.

It has potential to be a decent idea depending on how much the companies are taking. If a local band charges like 50 cents or something per song then that could help them with getting better equipment and recording gear and would have people supporting them. It depends though as I said. I'm in a Pgh band called divinity complex and i dunno if we would charge any money, you still do get exposure if people download songs for free ya know?
