Napster co-founders Sean Parker and Shawn Fanning are reportedly set to launch their own video chat service, Supyo.
According to Australian news site News.com.au, the pair are in the process of raising $10 million (Ј6.1 million) to get the service started.
The pair are said to be targeting a similar audience to those who currently use services such as Chatroulette, but have said they hope to police their site more effectively and hope to avoid the site being used for pornography and predatory behaviour.
Parker and Fanning are keen to invest in video chat services and have said in the past that they believe video chat will become a key part of social networking in the next decade.
Unlike Chatroulette, however, Fanning and Parker are determined that their service will not be overrun with pornography and predators. They are in the midst of raising approximately $10 million in venture capital to make sure the site launches smoothly.
Parker, whose early investment in Facebook was chronicled in "The Social Network", has said before that he thinks live services are the next big thing in social networking, as opposed to the video package and viral clips that have made Google's YouTube a worldwide phenomenon.
Among the investors for the new project is TechCrunch CEO Michael Arrington, who confirmed his involvement but declined to comment on any details - even to his own website.
