An adviser to the Swedish company hoping to acquire file-sharing site The Pirate Bay has pulled out of his role because he has "very strong doubts" potential investors can provide adequate funding.
Wayne Rosso, who earlier this month said Global Gaming Factory's plans to turn The Pirate Bay into a legal download site were "ingenious", has now relinquished his role with the company, having met with some of the investors being lined up.
"
I and my colleagues have very strong doubts that the funding is in place," he told CNET.
Rosso added that he was also unsure whether Global Gaming Factory boss Hans Pandeya was the right person to take charge of The Pirate Bay.
He admitted: "There are other issues regarding Mr Pandeya's credibility that trouble us greatly."
Pandeya responded by stating that the proposed acquisition is still going ahead as planned, adding that Rosso was one of many people hired to advise Global Gaming Factory.
"Everything is going to plan," Pandeya said. "We have plenty of investors that are interested in this and Wayne is just one of our many consultants...he might have been too impatient. We pay everyone we do business with."
The four original founders and hosts of The Pirate Bay were sentenced to a year in jail and fined for copyright infringement offences in April.
