Pirate Bay Unfazed By New Threats

Peter Sunde, a co-founder of high-profile file-sharing website The Pirate Bay, says new legal action against the site is nothing more than "harassment".

Thirteen Hollywood production companies filed a lawsuit on Tuesday to try to get the website shut down.

In April the site's founders were found guilty of breaking copyright law and were sentenced to a year in jail and ordered to pay $4.5m (£3m) in damages.

However, the site remains open and users can share copyrighted content.

"We have filed a complaint against The Pirate Bay because they have not stopped their activities after they were sentenced to prison," the studios' lawyer Monique Wadsted told AFP.

The lawsuit has been brought by Columbia Pictures, Disney Enterprises, Universal Studios and 10 other firms, many of which were due to receive damages form the April settlement.

next time you download a torrent from mininova click trackers and look whats there. probably gonna be from TPB, someone will step up tho im sure and if not theres still private trackers

Doesn't matter, Pirate Bay will be dead in a couple days when the sell completes anyways.

Even if they shut down Torrent sites, people are starting to just use media uploading sites like mediafire, megaupload, or rapidshare. Personally I prefer those because it's a direct download, none of this seeders vs. leechers crap

If you're gunna be taken down like THAT, why NOT go out with a bang... What's going to really stop them, yanno? They'll ride it out despite what's going on. They know just as well as us, when one goes down, there's about 10(00) other ones at the ready to replace it (sites, or what have you). It'll never end, but the bigger folk who "own the rights" are really crankin' up their activity, lately. I'm sure you film bootleggers are enjoying your letters from columbia pictures and the like about your activity, huh...

To top it off, people just aren't discrete about it like they use to / should be. The www is partially to blame... It's nothing like the discussion board days. If you're gunna do the crime, be ready to do the time, 'cause anymore you're just asking for it...

Notice it's the big hollywood businesses filing lawsuit (partly due to their lack of creativity, rehashing movies already overdone and not letting a new generation take the throne, thus a sharp decline in their sales because they're afraid to take risks on new things). Something tells me when it comes to porno you won't have to worry about these kinds of things
