Ozzy Osbourne Wants To Make Two New Albums

Mike Snider of USA Today recently conducted an interview with Ozzy Osbourne. A couple of excerpts from the chat follow.

USA Today: Anything new you can tell me about your upcoming Osbournes' TV project (a six-episode hourlong variety show on Fox)?

Ozzy: There's a word that scares me a little (used to describe the new show), the word "variety." If we do a Christmas show, believe me, I'm not going to be sitting at a cozy fire with a scarf on and singing, "I'm dreaming of a white Christmas." I'm making that perfectly clear right now. I'm not singing any (crappy) little f---ing Christmas songs. It's kind of like an unscripted (thing). I hope it turns out because Mama, Sharon, is kind of the TV person. She said it would be great if we could all get back together and put this thing on. You know what? OK. We nearly lost her a few years ago when she had cancer. So her passion is for TV. She loves it, so we all love it with her, you know. But I'm not going to become the weatherman or the next Larry King. I'm just going to check it out.

Can you say anything about next year's Ozzfest? (This year's is a one-off concert with Metallica and Serj Tankian Saturday in Dallas).

I guess my wife has a plan up her sleeve. There will be something next year. I think it will be the Ozzfest again, back to normal (a multi-date tour). But I don't know at this point.

Anything else in the works?

I am recording another album soon. I've got a ProTools machine downstairs in my house now, which I record from home now. I can't turn the f---ing thing on. (Laughs). It's like the brain of the house. But when you have somebody who knows what they are doing, it's so easy to make records now, it's not even funny. The art of making records is somewhat diminishing. It's taking the passion out of it. But I will try to give it as much real me as I can. There's so many tricks I can use. I want to make two albums. Make one and go out on that one, and make another one and go out on that. Time is very valuable to me now. I'm 60 this December. It does not seem 10 years since I was 50. It really doesn't. My mission now is to do as much as I can.

I'm glad to see that he's energized and looking to do lots of shit. It's a good sign. Obviously he's not going to be as potent as he once was but he's the The Ozz...he'll still be sick. I'm PSYCHED that they're going back to a full Ozzfest tour.

Agreed. Totally ****in' cool that Ozzy's already planning his next record. I hope this one won't repeat the six year gaps between his last three albums, 1995's Ozzmosis, 2001's Down to Earth and last year's Black Rain. I hope I'll get to see him on stage again when he releases his next album. I've seen Ozzy live a couple times back in the 80s.

ozzy is invinsble because he is iron man. hope these two albums are good. i wouldn't mind seeing rick rubin or roy z help produce one of those albums.

i second this opinion, i think zakk's playing has been pretty tasteless. i suppose he just doesn't get the concept of when you play too much of something, people will get bored of it. don't get me wrong, zakk is an awesome player, lord knows i'll never be as good as him, but whatever happened to the idea of using moderation? its the fifteen long minutes of constant machine-gun firing of notes that makes up his entire solos at ozzfest that annoys me.

that would be pretty cool cuz hes influenced by different types of music besides metal like jaz bluus and classical kinda like Randy hence the name

zakk really kicked ass at one time but that was way back, like way back when metallica were good. no more tears was his peak. sure he's an amazing picker but his ideas are too repetitive and in my opinion have become boring. ozzy should get some fresh blood and fresh ideas on his next album, he always had a knack for finding killer talent. sharons next tv project should be find ozzy a new guitarist.

Zakk Wylde is a fantastic guitarist, that plays some brilliant pieces. No More Tears is one of my favorite Ever Songs, he is a great player and Amb 455 I agree with you, but music is each to there own, no one has the right to tell Zakk how he should or shouldn't play, or to call it bad, just cause it does nothing for them, it might do something for someone else
