According to Blabbermouth.net, guitarist Rudolf Schenker of the veteran German hard rockers Scorpions has issued the following statement:
"Dear fans, during our show last Friday [November 30] in Clermont Ferrand, France I tore a muscle in my foot. Therefore, I was forced to play the rest of the performance in just one area of the stage.
"To cancel that concert or to cancel any upcoming performances would disappoint the fans so that was out of the question.
"I hope that all the fans will understand that I will not be able to exhibit my full stage energy until my injury heals.
"I have consulted with Germany's best sports medicine physician and I am receiving the best treatment.
"I look forward to the future shows where I am able to give my maximum stage performance. Until then, thank you for your continued support and see you in Portugal and India in the coming weeks."
Low-quality fan-filmed video footage of the Clermont concert can be found at YouTube.
Scorpions' concert at Wacken Open Air in Wacken, Germany on August 3, 2006 will be released on DVD in Europe on December 7 via Sony BMG Music Entertainment GmbH. A North American release date has not yet been announced. Entitled "Live At Wacken Open Air 2006: A Night To Remember - A Journey Through Time", the disc will include the German hard rock band's historic performance at the festival during which they were joined by former bandmates Uli Jon Roth, Michael Schenker and Herman Rarebell.

: now i can get some sleep. the fact that he was not rocking out to full potential was driving me up a wall, and i was dying to find out why. thanks, blabbermouth, for reporting that, and UG for re-posting it! the entire music community would be lost without you!POSTED: 12/03/2007 - 11:20 am / quote |

: I give the man a lot of credit for not canceling the shows and for the apology to his fans for not being able to give them the full visual performance. I don't think he should have to apologize, because he is still playing the shows, but for him to do that you know he cares about the fans.
And while this may not be the biggest news in the world, it is a public announcement that without being represented in the news might never get to the public it was intended for. You can't make a public announcement to no one, then it wouldn't be "public"POSTED: 12/03/2007 - 11:28 am / quote |

: someone has to learn how to title their articles correctly like
"Boy killed by car" is very different than "Boy ALMOST killed by car"
or lets say for example...
"Scorpion guitarist misses shows" as opposed to, hmm I don't know "Scopion guitarist injures foot, but plays on"
...Just a thoughtPOSTED: 12/03/2007 - 01:17 pm / quote |
jubeikibagami
: Wow that's rocking out. His foot is a mess and he still plays. The heading for this article was a little off.POSTED: 12/03/2007 - 01:18 pm / quote |

: i've never followed the scorpions but Rudolph really seems to care about his fans, a lot of people would'nt play at all. I thought it was nice that he made a statement about it.POSTED: 12/03/2007 - 03:13 pm / quote |
FretboardToAsh
: Now that's a guy that cares, don't whine about a foot - playing is still possible right? If it was his hand then I would understand someone not playing. POSTED: 12/03/2007 - 03:50 pm / quote |
guylee
: it's not the fact so much that it isn't a big deal it's the fact that he's showing that he cares about the fans. Lighten up a littlePOSTED: 12/03/2007 - 03:58 pm / quote |
The_Paranoia
: I thought he just skipped the show. Re title this or something.

but then again I guess an article will get much more views if the title says "guitarist misses shows" then "guitarist doesn't play to his full and utmost ability due to a medical injury incurred while playing in a previous show"POSTED: 12/03/2007 - 08:12 pm / quote |
