A7X Premiere 'So Far Away' Video

Avenged Sevenfold premiere the video for their current single "So Far Away" today, May 10th on MTV, MTV2, MTVu, and MTV.com.

Fans in the UK can see the video on MTV Rocks and at www.mtv.co.uk/avenged. The video is a raw and emotional tribute to the band's late drummer Jimmy "The Rev" Sullivan and celebrates the long-time friendship the band members have shared since forming Avenged Sevenfold in Huntington Beach, CA, in 1999. The video was directed by Wayne Isham, who has directed videos for such artists as Metallica, MÓÆtley CrÓÌe, Megadeth, and Def Leppard, among many others.

The heartfelt quality of the video is in keeping with the emotional resonance of the song, a very personal goodbye to Sullivan that appears on the band's gold album Nightmare. "So Far Away" is currently climbing the Active Rock chart, following on the heels of the band's two previous No. 1 Active Rock singles, "Welcome To The Family" and "Nightmare," which was the most played song at the format (Mediabase) in 2010.

Avenged Sevenfold are currently out on the road for their "Welcome to the Family" Tour, which continues through May 21st. All upcoming tour dates are below. Avenged Sevenfold will also perform for 30,000 fans tomorrow, May 7th, by headlining the first annual Carolina Rebellion festival, which sold out more than a month before hitting the Metrolina Expo in Charlotte, NC. A7X's other spring festival appearances include Lazerfest in Des Moines, IA, on May 15th and Rock on the Range in Columbus, OH, on May 21st.

why the **** is this news? ive got nothing against A7X, theyre a very talented band, but how is them releasing a new music video news? yesterday the foo fighters released 3 of the winning videos from their "this video sucks" competition. coheed released a couple videos for their new album recently. rammstein announced last month that their releasing a new live album. UG is trying way too hard to kiss A7X's ass, just like theyre doing with Slash and Dave Grohl.

Who here has made a mistake before? Only difference is, that mistake cost him his life. The solo and the leads fit perfectly. Not over the top.. just simply appropriate. That's talent. Knowing limits. Sure he could have played something epic (try the Victim solo), but he knew this solo fit the song, and that's all it needed.

It's not it's simplicity that makes it weak; it's the lack of feeling. Simplicity is fine, if it works, and it could definitely work here, there's just no feeling in the solo, to me.

avenged is my fav band (been a fan for 3 years and they're the reason i started playing guitar) but theres no point of covering what the rev did. yes he was a wonderful person and awesome drummer but he did overdose on drugs that he should not have been taking, syn even said himself if they had found him dead another day they wouldve found completely different substances in him (if you dont get that he's saying the rev expiremented mixing different substances EVERYDAY) so yeah what the rev did was a mistake but we all make mistakes and btw to whoever said his girlfriend is a pornstar is just bullshitting

What's wrong with living the life of a rockstar? don't be pissed off because their drummer died. It would be the same thing if James Hetfield died or back when Rhodes,Dimebag,or Cliff died. Apparently this guy has only listed to nightmare I guess. And yeah he is a great singer, especially live. I honestly think they are very creative when it comes to music nowadays especially in the metal scene where everyone growls and plays the same riffs. You sound just as bad as the people you're ranting at, just chill brah. Nobody likes a pissy fanboy. I for one liked City of Evil, though I haven't listened to it in a while, but on the grand scale of things, what they're currently doing is fairly generic and nothing that breaks the mould of the genre. I know thats not the most legit reason to dislike a band, but sometimes people do just want to hear something new. A7X aren't for me, and they aren't for many people. However I will respect that The Rev was a good drummer, RIP, and this is a well constructed tribute to him.

They have written some of the most amazing music I've ever heard, and I'm glad that you base your entire judgment of their musical talent on their radio singles. Not sure if serious... I read all the comments and I did not see anyone calling Avenged Sevenfold "pu$$y metal". Usually it's the haters that create a bad images for themselves, but for this band, their fans really come off as a bit retarded.

Which sucks because I like some songs and not others.

Well calling a band bland kind of implies that you haven't really taken the time to actually listen to the songs which makes you sound ignorant. A band that experiments with all different kinds of music doesn't really seem bland to me. Bad might be a better example... but that's opinion, Bland is just wrong for the most part.

I don't see how that's contradicting. I'm saying that they're talented and anybody that isn't willing to admit that is stubborn. The opinion I'll respect you having is about whether or not you like the band, not whether or not they're talented lol.

And I know that was a pretty rant-filled post, but I just get tired of reading shit from people who are disrespecting the band for things that I feel aren't true, or worse, disrespecting Jimmy and saying we shouldn't be sad about his death because he was into drugs and dated a pornstar. It's ignorant to think that people are going to be respectful on the internet, but it really pisses me off to hear people bashing on their drummer and saying we shouldn't be sad about him dying. You know that if one of your friends lived the same life you wouldn't be standing at his funeral saying "Whatever he wasn't much of a stand-up guy if he lived his life that way, was he?". But whatever, you can get away with anything you want on the internet so I'm sure this isn't gonna stop you anyways.

What's wrong with living the life of a rockstar? don't be pissed off because their drummer died. It would be the same thing if James Hetfield died or back when Rhodes,Dimebag,or Cliff died. It has hurt the music community that The Rev died and if you hate to hear about it, don't come on the internet. Simple as that.

Well F***** said couldn't have said it better. one of their best songs, off my personally fav album. i love victim (i reckon some of the solo sounds carlos santana-ish but fricking awesome), fiction (because it has no guitar only piano drums and vocals, not that i have anything against the guitar playing) and this song
