On Wednesday, Aerosmith debuted their new single, "Legendary Child", on the season finale of "American Idol".
Watch video of their performance below.
The song is from their forthcoming new album, "Music From Another Dimension", which will be released August 28. It will also appear in the film "G.I. Joe: Retaliation", which hits theatres on June 29.
"Legendary Child" has some Aerosmith history: it was originally recorded during the sessions for the band’s 1993 album, "Get A Grip".
The band has offered up audio of the new track for fans to check out.

Aerosmith – Legendary Child / Walk This Way (live @ "American Idol", Season 11 finale, May 23, 2012):
Steven is sounding amazing as usual. I like how his voice has gained some extra edge in his older years even if some of the range has gone away recently. Good stuff.
I was watching the finale last night (with my girlfriend, of course) and thought Joe Perry's guitar sounded terrible. Not sure if Idol messed it up or what, but it sure wasn't good. As a whole, the song was pretty solid though.
mmm not as punchy as they used to be. But now totally got why he was doing the whole thing anyway. Sneaky bugger put the rock back on the mainstream TV
I wouldn't expect much from Idol sound wise. This track is pretty legit though, and I really like the fact that they gave a whole song and not a snippet like ZZ top did.
I hope the rest of the album sounds this good. It does state that it's a leftover track from Get a Grip, so hopefully the rest of the "new" songs are a true return of Aerosmith.
What IS good is that I've never liked Aerosmith much, but I do like this song. So it's good to see some older bands coming back.
Hopefully they aren't pulling a VH type stunt by reviving shit that didn't make the cut before. This actually sounds more like "Permanent Vacation" era. Nice though.

hate to break it to you:

I got that from the story. I was just pointing out that it sounded more like Vacation era.

OK stop with the puns, its no surprise that people will be punning like kings and queens
I wanna know why you screwed that up - it should be "No SurpriZe", remember?
I'm impressed! No out of tune, immediately grabbed my attention and continued to the end. You never know what new song from anybody is going to be like when they come out and can suck somehow or lame, or knew they dug it out from old attempts. While this may be a past start it is definetly not one of those that you can see through. Got ne listening to a few A CD's today and all day, had fun and got me to continue toning up my as* and legs. Kick start again...hot summer coming UP!!!! Thank you! Good job and checking through before you put it out....! JW me...
Continuing...I just heard it on the radio and based my comments on that but as well it was on last night on Ai and it still had intriging continued kick in the same just from the sound of it and did the trick for me and fine live anyway despitie guitar comment but maybe someone wasn't warmed up so who cares...still impressed just the same and same effect (!)they play raw stuff that you can like and why it is what it is for anyone...it has some hard and some eccentric in it and sharp fun energy that gets your core and blood...That's my Review... JW me...
I heard this again today and heard it a different way - only because it exists...and maybe I shouldn't write it because I don't want anybody mad at me...you should ask...I'd make a better producer.
