Alice In Chains And Philip Anselmo Performing 'Would?': Video Online

artist: alice in chains date: 05/08/2006 category: online downloads
rating: 0 / votes: 0

A video clip of Alice In Chains performing the song "Would?" with ex-Pantera frontman Philip Anselmo on March 10, 2006 at the taping of the VH1 Classic series "Decades Rock Live!" has been posted online at YouTube.com.

Alice In Chains played five songs on as part of a "Decades Rock Live!" tribute to Heart. The episode officially premiered on May 5 but the final 90-minute program only included two songs from AIC ("Would?" and "Rooster").

Anselmo sang two songs with the group ("Would?" and "Them Bones"), while Comes With The Fall frontman William DuVall performed another two and dueted with Heart vocalist Ann Wilson on "Rooster".

Alice In Chains recently confirmed the five dates and cities for its U.S. mini-tour, beginning on May 18 in Los Angeles and ending on May 23 in New York City. The shows will all take place in either small clubs or theatres.

These gigs and a previously announced date at the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally in August are the only announced North American shows for the reunited group so far, with European festival dates on tap for June and July.

As previously reported, Alice In Chains will be joined on vocals by DuVall. However, surprise guest vocalists and musicians are expected to show up at each of the five U.S. dates.

Thanks for the info to Blabbermouth.net.

its funny because hes shaking his head probably ssying "what am i doing here". I love Aic but they should call it something else now cause without layne it wont be AIC. AND PLEASE DONT LET PHILLIP ANSELEMO EVER SING AGAIN!

Listen to him after the harmony part when he starts on his own. He sounds like he's gargling on a 3" thick, 6" long cylindrical human sex organ of the male type.

Lay the hell of phil, he sounded pretty good to me, he was trying to sing a different way than he normally does, he has good pipes on the early pantera even some songs on the later albums and on the down albums, he normally growls so singing isn't so much his thing as much as growling is.

Any one who knows who "PHIL" is wouldn't have said that. He did a good job.

I have a lot of respect for Phil in Pantera... but that... I dunno, it wasnt working for me AT ALL. Maybe I'm just too used to Layne, rest his soul.

That is the coolest thing ever. Jerry Cantrell, Phil Anselmo, Duff McKagan, and some drummer. I loved it. He doesn't sound like Layne and thank god he's not trying to. Phil is an amazing singer. They should get him instead of DuVall. He has so much more to offer to them than DuVall, and he sounds way better with them. Stop critcizing you bastards. Could you do a better job? I doubt it.

it's not some drummer, it's the original AIC drummer Sean Kinney

Hmmm... I love Phil and all, but I found the songs that Maynard performed with them more enjoyable. Not just because I love Maynard, but he really took the songs to another level. Still Phil rocks and if he decided to do more stuff with AiC in the long run I would definitly be open to it. But then again I've still yet to hear what Duvall can do so I'm curious about that aswell.

i think phil brought the same kind of grungy style layne had. but ya, it was off a few times, but he is pretty close at times

Anselmo was good...hes no Layne but hes good.

Really I think that AIC needs someone like Chris Cornell, or someone with that kind of throatty voice.

o and to those who are judging anselmo, just remember that when a camera records a live show, it takes out all lot of the different tones (watch any award show and u'll know what I mean)

Chris Cornell has a powerful voice and a very specific reconizable voice, but i think he'd alter the AIC sound too much by adding from his own experiences.Phil is attempting to capture AIC orignal sound it's not bad but not the best. Can't beat the original.
