Alice In Chains: More Footage From The Studio

The third in a series of video clips featuring behind-the-scenes footage from the recording sessions for the new Alice In Chains album can be viewed here.

Jerry Cantrell (vocals, lead guitar), Mike Inez (bass), Sean Kinney (drums) and William DuVall (vocals, guitar) are hunkered down in a Los Angeles studio crafting their latest opus. Produced by Nick Raskulinecz (Foo Fighters, Rush, Stone Sour, Trivium, Shadows Fall, Death Angel), the album promises to be a sonic journey guided by eerily psychedelic solos, and unforgettable riffs.

Alice In Chains' manager, David Benveniste (Beno) of Velvet Hammer Music and Management Group, previously stated, "Our collective vision is to extend Alice In Chains into phase two of their career worldwide. They have tremendous heritage, having sold some 15 million records, and an amazing repertoire of new material that they've written. Most importantly, Alice In Chains will be on the road in 2009 bringing new music to fans everywhere."

The new disc will mark the recording debut with Alice In Chains of frontman William DuVall, who has been singing with the group since they officially reunited in 2006. Original vocalist Layne Staley died in April 2002.

Alice In Chains will kick off 2009 with a main-stage slot on Australia's Soundwave Festival (February 21 - March 1) alongside such acts as Nine Inch Nails, Lamb Of God, Alkaline Trio, The Red Jumpsuit Apparatus and more.

Alice In Chains have mostly stayed off the road since last year, but played at a radio station festival in Peoria, Arizona on September 20.

I hope this doesn't suck, and if it gets popular and they have new retarded fans who don't even know about Layne, I'll be pissed. And if the band itself goes "Layne Who?" I'll never listen to another track again.

I think the music will be good. It's just that the theme of the band loses a little bit of an edge without layne. That guy lived the words of the songs.

Layne can never be replaced but Jerry wrote most of their "hits". He's still there and as long as he writes stuff that has that AIC sound we should all be happy. I've heard Duval sing as well and the guy has incredible range so he's a good fit. Lets hear it first before judging.

True. Layne was a perfect fit for what Alice in Chains was all about. Even if Duvall is good, it's just not the same without him.

Layne wasn't responsible for writing most of the music anyway, and William is a good singer. Just quit being close minded. This is more of a dedication to Layne anyway, cause you know there gonna play old songs at the shows they play.

Layne didn't write most of the music, sure he was a great singer, and while it would be best if he was singing, he's dead, so why don't we stop complaining about it until we actually hear the new material, then we can judge whether its good or bad. Besides, Duvall is doing a good job, hes no Layne, but he does good.

Many bands still do good after replacing a singer, AC/DC released what I think was their best selling record after Bon died(although I still prefer AC/DC before him, but I do admit that he does an alright job.) Its pretty much the same thing here.

It just won't sound the same. Cantrell really wrote a lot of the lyrics and songs, if you listen to his solo shit its basically the same as AIC.

They're a great band and I hate that Layne passed away, but there's nothing you can do about it. I'm so happy to hear from these guys again, and maybe have a chance to see them live. and to back it up a third time, I agree. Most of my favorite songs by AiC were all written by Jerry, so I am REALLY looking forward to this one!

True, those songs can't be sung if you really have experienced the addiction and the struggles against drugs, otherwise the songs become meaningless. Too bad my favourite song is Junkhead

please don't insult the intelligence of others when you've failed to spell even the simplest words completely and correctly.

In any case, Layne is gone, and it sucks. But Alice and Chains isn't gone as long as Jerry is there, and actually if Jerry had died instead of Layne and the band reformed, it would NOT be Alice in Chains at all. I only hope that there is at least a tinge of Layne in Duvall's voice. (i haven't heard anything yet.)

This a far more acceptable reformation than this Sublime nonsense.

It's like must grunge bands or even metal bands after some time there sounds change to pop (or whatever) but i hope that doesn't happen in AIC's case with this new singer
