Blink-182 To Document New Album Sessions

Blink-182 are reentering the studio this month to resume work on the first album since their 2003 self-titled LP, and cameras will be following the trio’s recording sessions for an upcoming film called The Blinkumentary. According to MTV, cameras have been following Blink full-time since the band embarked on their reunion tour in May 2009. Mark Hoppus, Tom DeLonge and Travis Barker said they planned to record a new album from the start, but pushed the studio time back until their trek was completed. After Blink’s 2005 split, DeLonge formed Angels & Airwaves while Hoppus and Barker started +44, and DeLonge says in the clip that the new musical directions that the members had in their post-Blink bands will undoubtedly influence the new disc.

"No one really knows what to expect from the next Blink record, I don’t think anyone expects it’s going to be a straight-forward rock record," DeLonge says, adding that the upcoming album will likely feature Blink’s "most ambitious songwriting" to date. No word yet when the entire Blinkumentary will be released or whether it’ll unfurl piecemeal to form sort of video diary about the recording sessions.

man i cant wait for the blinkumentary....gona be sick as. Tom gets paid out abit becoz of his guitar skills(or lack of) and the way his voice is live....but man, every band hes in seems to come to life, Blink 182, boxcar racer, angels and airwaves....sure he might not have the best voice or guitar skills, but everthing he does seems to have "it"...i dont even kno what that means but wow...hes becoming a genius, and i think the next blink 182 and angels and airwaves records are gona be something special

So excited to see all the upcoming blink projects. They are a truely amazing fun band that are so much fun to watch and listen to. this is true when i saw him with AVA, but I saw him twice with Blink over the summer and he sounded awesome. No AVA-type voice at all.

i really doubt all of them said it will be influenced by post-Blink bands. because thats just what tom wants. he hella wanted that angels and airwaves sound which is why he quit blink in the first place. mark and travis werent down for changing the sound that much but tom kept pushing it. boxcar racer and +44 were pretty good but the only ways it could be influenced by post-Blink stuff would be a cd that sounds alot like a mix of blink's self titled and some angels and airwaves bullshit (which would not be cool at all) or HOPEFULLY its some combination of dude ranch enema of the state take off your pants and jacket and some boxcar racer (and that would be totally badass)

so what if they're not relevant to the mainstream? since when did people here care about that? There's no milking in the music industry. Every band does this stuff to make money. and blink happens to be my favorite band so this is sort of a fan service, I don't mind.

i dont like the sound of "most ambitious songwriting" and tom in the same sentence. the last album wasnt bad, but that was not blink. i understand they have to evolve coz theyre aging, but the self-titled wasnt that mature, and it also lacked one of the parts of blink-brand> HUMOR.

i just hope this one's turns out to be much better, but i dont expect that.

they have side projects to musically experiment i don't see why they need to do it with blink.

Couldnt have said it better myself, except that maybe a reunion could result in a midway point between blink and their side projects that works well. I did like Blink's simplicity (though they were never my favourite band), but I'd rather see them progress with their music than keep releasing the same stuff.

Mark and Tom together are an amazing songwriting team. If you like the immaturity and simplicity, there are a million other bands that are just like that. Blink 182 has become something special, and hopefully their new album will be tasteful and godly.

I mean, they're in their what, 30+'s now? I really don't see the new album being the typical punk-rock, fun stuff that we used to hear from blink.

I agree with the "Milking the cashcow" bit. Which is a bit of a disappointment, because they used to be my favourite band for like 4 years.

Hopefully, they can prove us nay-sayers wrong and bring out something that's almost half as good as their old stuff, but in my opinion, outlook is bleak.
