Blink-182 have posted 'After Midnight', the second single from their forthcoming album 'Neighborhoods' online, scroll down to the bottom of the page and click to hear it.
The track is the third to be made available from the band's new album, which is their first for over eight years, after lead-off single 'Up All Night' and album track 'Heart's All Gone' were also released.
The track, which is much slower than either of the songs the trio have made available thus far, is more reminiscent of material from the band's 2003 self-titled album rather than the faster, pop-punk material from their early years.
'Neighborhoods', which is the seventh studio album of the California band's career, will be formally released on September 27.
Blink-182 tour the UK next summer, after postponing their extensive arena tour back by over 12 months to complete work on the album.
Love it but does anyone else think the chorus guitar stuff sounds really bad? It sounds like its either been really badly played, rushed, mixed bad or just produced really badly?
Oh and this version is flat compared to the original (probably slowed down or something)
I was supposed to get the download yesterday for this song. Too bad the servers crashed. Mark Hoppus tweeted that everyone who was supposed to get one would get one today in the morning via email. I never got it.
But I do agree with the chorus issue. Sounds really weird. The guitar sounds pretty sloppy. It could even be the quality that this is uploaded to. No idea.
Not stoked for the new album at all. Blink have never been the greatest band, but they have never failed to put out good tunes, until now. Everything from the new album is pretty terrible, this song is no different.

no its just terribly composed no part of the music intertwines with the others it sounds like a bunch of aging musicians who never really "got it"
I just saw Blink live with my chem, and i like blinks stuff on the album, but they act like theyre 15 year olds playing live. I havent heard anything from the new album that i really enjoy either.

Well no, the guitar just sounds shit but you're entitled to your opinion I guess :S
On a totally unrelated note, does anybody else love when the advertisement for full sail university shows up on UG with the hot chick holding the guitar? I would marry her so hard...
New album is great, awesome to see and hear that Blink 182 has stuck with their roots but introduced more concepts into their music. Growing up with this band is most certainly something im proud of.

Blink 182 has been my fav band since i was nine years old and have never disappointed me.. this new album is gonna be amazing , yes its not dude ranch but they are nearly forty its gonna be a kick ass album when you hear it in all its glory. also meeting tom is vancouver was the best thing i have ever experienced ever.
the audio of this version is what is bringing it down
this version i downloaded is much better http://www.mediafire.com/?jja4tq2qsnpbgw...
ps. love the new stuff as much as the old stuff
Love the song, but does this not sound like this belongs on an Angels and Airwaves cd? Or am I on some kind of crack?
yeh, i think tom should leave his slow crap with A and A, and get back to fast rocking pop punk as its clearly the only thing he's good for. I like the album blink 182 but it was defo the beginning of the end for Blink 182 and a descent into this pathetic attempt of been 'deep' and 'emotional' man! - i wish they never got back together...its better to burn out then to fade away.
I just can't understand Blink. Not don't, I literally can't. I have tried. Some of their old stuff has some genuine fun to it, stuff like the Rock SHow and Adam's song, but they have never been better than average. Travis is a good drummer but this kind of band is just sad and pathetic. Just like green day, except without nearly as many good tunes from their early days like green day used to have. i don't like green day either, but i don't like Blink. I went to their concert with my girlfriend in St. Louis a few weeks ago, and literally EVERY person there was either a screaming 18-23 year old girl wearing a glittery shirt or something with the band name on it or guys in tight t-shirts and backwards hats. They're basically every bit as sold out as green day by now.

this is sooooo much better than that piece of crap Dude Ranch. Seriously. If you don't like this you're just jealous that you'll never be as famous as blink 182.
Man I won't go and say blink-182 sold out because they didn't they just got better but, Sofar at least to me blink-182 seems to have lost there flavor there new stuff don't sound that exciting
a lot of people at my school are so obsessed with these guys. dont get me wrong, they're a good band but i just don't see why some bands at my school try so hard to sound like them. they got some really good songs that i like to jam to but i just don't see why they have such MASSIVE appeal to so many people at my school. but i guess i have no room to talk since i'm sure there are many people who don't understand my love for A7X. To each his own i guess...

coming from a gigantic blink fan, I gotta say that these first few songs are not as good as they should be. the production seems really low compared to not only past releases, but even the side projects. Was Jerry Finn really that key of a component to blink's sound? The guitar in the chorus is a muddled mess, and there's no low end at all. If it weren't for the vocal effects and harmonies, I would say this was ripped from a live performance.
Color me disappointed. Hopefully the rest of the tracks prove me wrong.
The version upload here sounds kind of crap. I have the actual album version, and this one is lower for some reason, which makes it sound not so good. I like this song. I like it more than Up All Night. Still undecided if I like it more than Heart's All Gone or not.

That was always the bulk of the Blink 182 fans though...

If you think the Rock Show and Adam's song the old, fun songs, you have unfortunately been misguided. Listen to Dude Ranch. I like that album just as much as Dookie.

That's the "prog rock" part they were talking about. It's no different than a solo from Jordan Rudess.
I like the song as a die hard blink fan but i have to say its is nowhere near their best...if im not mistaken they said they are all recording their parts in separate studios. That is why the magic is lost and songs just dont sound as good imo.
Tom's voice isn't so great in this song imo. Up All Night is way better than this song. Even Mark's voice sounds weird in this song, so hopefully it's just the quality of the youtube video.

Just cause they're recorded in separate studios, it doesn't mean that they weren't written together as a band. Mark doesn't need to watch Tom record guitar if all the parts have already been written, and vice versa.

hehehe
Everything so far has just been alright to me. I'll still probably get the album though.
I think they basically just forgot how to write blink songs. They can still get back that pop punk sound if they want to, but I think these kind of lyrics are here to stay. This album is really disappointing so far.
Also, Tom still sucks at guitar.
This song is great but that link sounds different then the version i got from get182.com
to any one saying it sounds like ava, you should to listen all the songs that +44 did, they added alot of effects not as many as ava but still, its where they are and sounds awesome
Root Beer :
"Up All Night"? "After Midnight"? I'm sensing a theme here...

You deserve a good, hard smack in the face, sir, if you think that Travis Barker is untalented.
Thing is, Travis Barker isn't all that great. Reni would beat him in a drum-off any day, as would hundreds of other musicians. I'm not saying that he's bad, but he tries to make whatever he plays look more difficult than it actually is, thus reeling in crowds of fans. At the Aberdeen show [and probably every other European Tour date] he did a drum solo in which he was spinning upside down on a gyroscope-like thing and everyone was impressed by his originality.
Black Oak Arkansas did the whole spinning drum solo in the 70s . . .
and ps, drumming is very very easy so of course travis makes it look harder, thats music in general how hard does nirvana music look sometimes when in actual fact they are very simplistic

He's cool, and that's probably the furthest traveling attribute in popular music. There's always someone with more skill, but as far as drummers go, Travis is definitely above average.

Wow.... sad and pathetic? Don't listen to it then.... jesus. Let me guess you write the most mature and unheard of music known to man, right? C'mon, guys.... it's music. Just cause blink made a headline on UG everyone's gotta troll the crap out of it.... give it a break.
I like the comment about Blink-182 not quite "getting" it. They do what they do, and a lot of people out there care about what they do. But if you want good music "real" music, get a Third Eye Blind Album.
Love it just like almost every blink song. Everybody that expected this to be just like dude ranch or Enema of the state can just go...you know what themselves. It's been 8 years...the guys are almost in their 40's now. Let's get real shall we? Think song is great .
