Ultimate Classic Rock reports that a guitar player in a Bon Jovi cover band decides he simply can't bare the thought of running through a mediocre cover of "You Give Love A Bad Name" for what could be for the hundredth time — so rather than fake it, he takes the most rock 'n' roll way out.
A YouTube clip — first discovered by the badass site Badass Digest — captures it all.As the singer launches into that familiar "Shot through the heart / and you're to blame" intro, the guitarist decides he's had enough, smashes his instrument with his best "London Calling" over-the-shoulders swing, tosses the it to the side of the stage and ambles off.
SO stoked for any guy that got dragged to that lame ass show by his girlfriend and then this happened. What an awesome turn of events! There's a good chance I would shit myself laughing!
Usually when I see a dude wearing spandex and a feathered "Jennifer Batten" hairdo I just asume it's meant as a parody or something. But Bon Jovi, much like Duran Duran and Mötley Crüe, really seems to be one of those bands who's hardcore fanbase can't help but emit that good ol' "I'm stuck in the 80's" aroma :p
Anyone seen that clip where Triumph goes to a Bon Jovi gig in Jersey? Cracks me up every time

Yeah, the boys actually invited Triumph to be there.

that was awesome. all 5 people in the front row looked so disappointed, and that one groupie chick (more than likely the lead singers girlfriend) screaming "you're an *******" is probably Courtney Loves best friend.
I bet when he visualized that moment in his head, it's looked a lot cooler...
I'd like to know how the singer figured the band was going to continue the song after the guy smashed his guitar?
Advice to kids, you can just walk off stage; wrecking your guitar - if you aren't Hendrix, Nirvana, etc - looks lame and hurts your wallet more than your band mates.
Gotta say it wasn't nearly as cool as I was expecting from the description .. still amusing though. Mostly for the delayed reaction of everyone else.
I doubt it was to do with "I don't want to play this song again", as he didn't have his guitar on and was saying something else before the singer/drummer interupted.
kind of surprised the band didn't try changing it to a song they could play with one less guitar or just gave everyone in the band a short solo or something to that effect. Yeah no play it off like it never happened so the crowd isn't just pissed that someone had a temper tantrum regardless of how funny it is to see.
This is the world we live in now: cover band guitarists throwing asinine tantrums (hey, you don't like the band, leave!) getting worldwide publicity. He will no doubt be offered a reality series by MTV.
