The breakthrough, boisterous music of Universal Republic newcomers Cash Cash bounded into stores in 2009. Their Universal Republic debut album, "Take It To The Floor", was made available to fans nationwide on January 20.
Now you can listen to four of the album's songs on the band's UG Profile, and here are Cash Cash's exclusive comments upon the tracks:
01. Party In Your Bedroom
This song first started out as a joke. It was just a stupid idea that came out of nowhere then one day Jean Paul and Alex decided to make it into a song and spent like a whole weekend demoing it... After it was done we were so stoked on how it came out we were like "ahhh, lets make more songs in that vein". It was the first song to set up the style for recording the rest of the album.
02. Sugar Rush
The music for Sugar Rush started as one of Alex's Fruity Loop ideas. Then me and alex were just chillin by our pool on a hot summer day eating sour patch kids and the lyrics started flowing! To me it's just a solid feel good track you can throw on and have a good time with when your feelin down. Plus a little candy never killed nobody.
03. Electric Hearts
Electric Hearts is kinda like our anthem. The whole vibe on our cd is based on combining electric music and computers into our writing and recording process. But we believe that you still need a heart to tell the computer what to do and play. Even though we use a lot of electronic style elements in our music we still write all the parts ourselves... Our heart still beats. It's just a digital heart beat :-)
04. Break Out
Break Out was an old song we had when our band was called The Consequence. In The Consequence it was a totally different song with some different lyrics, different parts, rhythms etc. It was one of those songs we had when the band was in high school that all our friends would want to hear and stuff. So after we got signed and had to change our name we figured why not just redo the song, change it up and pay homage to a hometown classic! haha To us it's like our kickoff track to start the party. It's also the first song to start the transition between The Consequence and Cash Cash.
Also, Cash Cash has recently put out their new video for "Party In Your Bedroom". Inspired by 90s teen movies like "Can't Hardly Wait," the band was able to capture their youthful spirit and candor in the video's imagery. "The cool thing about it was that we all had a part in shaping the scenes on set because we all love the movie so much!" says lead singer Jean Paul Makhlouf. Watch the video at AOL
Cash Cash are currently on tour with Cobra Starship in the UK and then this summer with Every Avenue and Valencia. They will be on Warped Tour July 24 - August 23.
