DRC Music is a super-group of producers led by Gorillaz' Damon Albarn. He was joined by T-E-E-D, Dan The Automator, Jneiro Jarel, Richard Russell (owner of XL Records who signed Adele), Actress, Marc Antoine, Alwest, Rodaidh McDonald and Kwesand to make the album.
The video for "Hallo", which you can see below, shows the team of producers arriving in the Congo and setting up an impromptu studio.
Over 50 local musicians were recording, bringing the producers a palette of ethnic beats and chants to inspire the project.
The album is available now from the DRC Music website on CD, vinyl and digital. The deluxe vinyl edition includes art cards and download codes.
All proceeds from the release will raise money for Oxfam, who fight poverty and suffering throughout the world. They have supported those in need from the Congo for 50 years, with more than 350 staff in projects around the country.
