So what’s the connection between an arboretum and a collection of solo acoustic guitar instrumentals? Well, it goes something like this: an arboretum is a collection of rare and exotic trees gathered together for display in a botanical garden setting. Acoustic guitars in general are often made from rare and exotic woods from all over the world, allowing master musicians to make beautiful music...
This was the connection in guitarist
David Mead’s mind, anyway – and it led to him making "
Arboretum", an album of 13 bewitching solo acoustic guitar instrumentals which act as the soundtrack to a day in the life of an imaginary woodland.
You can download the "Waterfalling" track off the album for free through the widget below.
David Mead had the following to say about the song:
"I wrote this piece to try and musically capture the way water falls – it’s my Arboretum’s little water feature and the most literal track on the CD!"
David Mead has already established himself on the guitar scene as one of the UK’s foremost guitar teachers as well as editing two of Europe’s biggest-selling magazines: Guitarist and Guitar Techniques. During that time he has also shared the stage with 1950’s pop icon Marty Wilde, ex-Thin Lizzy blueser Gary Moore, Whitesnake’s Bernie Marsden and Rolling Stone Mick Taylor. In addition to his live shows he has also written 19 books on the guitar and sold in excess of 150,000 copies worldwide.
