Dead Kennedys Debut Two New Songs

According to DCHeavyMetal.com, '80s punk rock legends Dead Kennedys performed what are apparently two brand new songs — "Area 51" and "You're Such A Fake" — during their October 16, 2010 concert at the Rock And Roll Hotel in Washington, D.C.

In addition, the band played a reworked version of the old song "MTV Get Off The Air", now re-titled "MP3 Get Off The Web", with lyrics that were "changed to be about people downloading MP3s and how much they suck for doing it."

"Area 51" and "You're Such A Fake" are said to be the first new songs from Dead Kennedys since the release of the band's last album, "Bedtime For Democracy", in 1986.

The current lineup of the Dead Kennedys is:

East Bay Ray - Guitar
D.H. Peligro - Drums
Ron "Skip" Greer - Vocals
Greg Reeves - Bass

I don't think it's appropriate to argue who is wrong or right in the whole lawsuit ordeal, but I definitely feel that the DKs shouldn't be performing without their original lineup. It was such a perfect 50/50 combination between Jello and the band.

MP3 and filesharing are the future of music distribution. Yes, it's not as easy of a way to make money - but the music business needs to learn how to utilize this technology more effectively and to it's advantage.

I agree with everyone else saying the DK's have no business to keep playing under the same name without Jello. It's kind of appalling. Having said that, I'm still gonna see them when they come to SD (I'm still a fan of the music & I bet it's good live).

... but they're definitely not as cool as they once were, that's for damn sure.

plus they sold out... i mean, they got in a lawsuit cuz Jello refused to let the rest of them use a song he wrote for a commercial because he didnt like the unethical business practices it exercised... these guys have no cred as the DK.

when will bands learn, when you lose your lead singer (after you ve become famous), thats generally the end of your band, cause your pretty much a cover band after that. Generally, ac/dc exception

Couldn't give a **** about any of the Bread Kennedys' new material. Jello wrote all the lyrics and sang the riffs into a tape recorder for Ray and Klaus to work out. And he's had an extensive post '86 discography. EBR's solo album was shit.

they dont even have the original bassists. and another thing. People who download music off the web isnt the problem. its the shit that makes it easy. Programs designed for it. Utorrent, bittorrent, windows media player. and maybe if people sold records (which is the only thing i would ever buy) we wouldnt have this problem. put your shit on vinyl. but now they have devices that convert vinyl to mp3. so u see we cant win.
