The first track from the upcoming Deftones album, "Koi No Yokan", has surfaced online. The band are offering the new song, titled Leathers as a free download from the band's official website Deftones.com, and it is also streaming below.
"Koi No Yokan", as NME reports, is the band's 7th full length album, and will be released in on November 12th in the UK and November 13th in the US. The album is produced by Nick Raskulinecz, who has also worked with Foo Fighters and Rush. Lead single "Tempest" will be released on October 9th.
Deftones frontman Chino Morino has said that the record will be "very dynamic", combining elements from many of the band's past works:
"It's not a super fast or slow record. It's very dynamic. Some of my favorite things about Deftones are the dynamics. Yes, we're a heavy band, but we're not just in-your-face aggro the whole time, punching you in the face. There's a lot of aggression in some of the music, but there's also this very soothing element where there's a lot of soundscapes rather than attack, attack, attack the whole time."
"I understand that's a big part of our sound, but I really feel like we reached a peak on our dynamics on this record with those two qualities, the beauty of something and just straight, ruthless aggression."
The track listing for the album has also been announced, and is as follows:
01. Poltergeist (Roller Derby)
02. Romantic Dreams
04. Swerve City
05. Entomb (Dazzle)
06. Graphic Nature
10. Goon Squad
11. What Happened To You? (Flashback)
