The Revolution TV recently conducted an interview with former Korn guitarist Brian "Head" Welch. You can now watch the chat in two parts below.
Welch said in a new interview with the Christian And Missionary Alliance in Buffalo, Minnesota that he has "no desire" to ever rejoin the band he left six years ago. Welch exited Korn in February 2005 after announcing that he had been saved by Jesus Christ and was devoting his life and music to Christianity. He has subsequently issued two books and a solo album.
When asked if he would ever consider opening as a solo artist for Korn, Welch told the Missionary Alliance, "It just sounds weird to me, 'cause we haven't spoken or hung out in a room together — except me and the bass player did, but the rest of the guys, no. But would I ever do it? I wouldn't go back to Korn, 'cause that's going backwards. I'm not gonna do that, and I don't want to, I have no desire to. But opening? It would have to be meant to be. I wouldn't just go."
Rumors circulated last year that Welch was rejoining the band, although they were denied by the group.
Singer Jonathan Davis told The Pulse Of Radio that it was Welch's approach to his beliefs that he had problems with. "I remember going in, walking into our studio. He went to go pick up his stuff and he wrote a note on one of the roadcases saying that he loves us and 'if you're ever ready to come over to my side, I'll teach you how not to be a slave to money' and all this stuff," he said. "It's just all this preachy stuff that I don't want to hear. I always have a problem with people trying to push their beliefs on me."
Welch said in a May 2009 interview with Noisecreep that he was happy with his decision to leave the group, although he added, "If I ever felt God lead me back to Korn for some reason, I'd go."
'cause we haven't spoken or hung out in a room together — except me and the bass player did,
Wow. How classy.
It's cool you believe in something and all, but being pushy is annoying. So is pushing out anything not religious. What happened to "love thy neighbor", the main rule in every religion that quite a few so called "religious" people disregard? Be faithful to your religion. That's fine. Just don't try to guilt trip anyone who isn't religious, and disregard anything that doesn't say "I love Jesus".

I agree, religion doesn't exist anymore...its been replaced by religious fanaticism
He reminds me of a sign I saw once in front of a church that said "Trust in God, not yourself." Of all the idiotic things I've heard from religious people, that kind of thinking offends me more than anything. I know very few religious people who truly embody what their religion stands for, but it's those people who I often respect most of all.

Mhmm. I know what you mean.
I saw a poster once that said "'God Is Dead'-Nietzsche, 'Nietzsche Is Dead'-God"
I mean, what ****ing selfishness. You may not agree with what Nietzsche said. Okay. But how dare someone presume what their higher being says. Doesn't God "love all his children"?
Shredder is 100% right. Religion is dying because of people turning it into self opinion and a way of feeling better about ones self, as opposed to truly believing in it. Not saying this about all religious people, of course (to avoid a slew of debate). I just mean that this is clearly evident with a lot of people who claim to be religious (mainly the extremists).
You know, I seem to recall reading that he didn't quit KoRn because he found Jesus, but that he quit KoRn THEN found Jesus. The same interview stated that he wanted to leave the band about a year after Follow the Leader came out (which musically makes sense if you look at the subsequent albums with Head). If you're wondering, I read this from a Guitar World magazine.
Well, if what I read was true, I guess this makes this our generation's "musical myth", kind of like how people say Mama Cass died choking on a sandwich.
The irony of religion is that because of its power to divert man to destructive courses, the world could actually come to an end. The plain fact is, religion must die for mankind to live. The hour is getting very late to be able to indulge in having in key decisions made by religious people. By irrationalists, by those who would steer the ship of state not by a compass, but by the equivalent of reading the entrails of a chicken. George Bush prayed a lot about Iraq, but he didn't learn a lot about it. Faith means making a virtue out of not thinking. It's nothing to brag about. And those who preach faith, and enable and elevate it are intellectual slaveholders, keeping mankind in a bondage to fantasy and nonsense that has spawned and justified so much lunacy and destruction. Religion is dangerous because it allows human beings who don't have all the answers to think that they do. Most people would think it's wonderful when someone says, "I'm willing, Lord! I'll do whatever you want me to do!" Except that since there are no gods actually talking to us, that void is filled in by people with their own corruptions and limitations and agendas. And anyone who tells you they know, they just know what happens when you die, I promise you, you don't. How can I be so sure? Because I don't know, and you do not possess mental powers that I do not. The only appropriate attitude for man to have about the big questions is not the arrogant certitude that is the hallmark of religion, but doubt. Doubt is humble, and that's what man needs to be, considering that human history is just a litany of getting shit dead wrong. This is why rational people, anti-religionists, must end their timidity and come out of the closet and assert themselves. And those who consider themselves only moderately religious really need to look in the mirror and realize that the solace and comfort that religion brings you actually comes at a terrible price. If you belonged to a political party or a social club that was tied to as much bigotry, misogyny, homophobia, violence, and sheer ignorance as religion is, you'd resign in protest. To do otherwise is to be an enabler, a mafia wife, for the true devils of extremism that draw their legitimacy from the billions of their fellow travelers. If the world does come to an end here, or wherever, or if it limps into the future, decimated by the effects of religion-inspired nuclear terrorism, let's remember what the real problem was that we learned how to precipitate mass death before we got past the neurological disorder of wishing for it. That's it. Grow up or die." - Bill Maher
I love how hes preaching the genuinity of the bible yet he read it while off his face, im sure if you read wheres wolly on meth it would feel like god speaking to you lol
WTF is with all the haters?! My god! You cant even seem to have an opinion without hurting someones feelings nowadays! If he left because he believed in something, then bugger off! Let him be whoever he wants to be and quit talking about him like he's a freaking idiot. He cant help that he feels the way he does. People should be supportive of other peoples beliefs, opinions, and general outlooks. I hate reading these things and seeing all the haters talk shit about people they dont even know. Its hypocritical!
More power to him that he got his life together for his sanity and his daughter - that's commendable and deserving of respect, no matter what the forum was. Pushing your ideals on other people, however, is something I can't agree with in any landscape. To me, if you can't accept that someone else's beliefs differ and that's okay, it shows a real lack of security in yourself and your beliefs.
Religion's all the same anyway - regardless of what facet of it you choose to follow, they all point to a bigger picture that boils down to faith in something greater than yourself. I don't understand the need to be 'right' when it's obvious they all point in the same direction anyway. The destination's the important part, not the vehicle you use to get there.

Yes, everybody, support those who treat you like a shunning post.
Repent!
The only thing that us humans have in common is not the essence of life, but all of the negative byproducts of existence!

George Carlin says there should only be 3 commandments: 1.Be faithful to the provider of thy nookie. 2. Try real hard not to kill anybody. and 3. Keep thy religion to thyself

It's not about what he believes in. It's how he implies that anyone who isn't religious is wrong. We're saying that with extremists, it's not about belief anymore, but how they are right and everyone else is wrong.
Unless you targeted to other posts, I don't think you read what I said right. There's nothing wrong with religion and if he left because of it, that's fine. But pushing it onto others is wrong.
Sorry, double, this came in just after I hit send.

George Carlin was, and shall always be considered, a genius. Him and Bill Hicks are the best comedians.

Having read quite a few interviews with Welch and seen the conflicts that have sprung up from some of his comments I believe that the problem isn’t necessarily with his belief or religious values. It’s more to do with the fact that he has eschewed almost all other aspects of his life and made numerous claims as to others motives and existence based upon these beliefs; something that contradicts the fundamental tenets of any aspect of true Christianity. After all isn’t it all based on a philosophy of forgiveness?
The other contributing factor in negativity being aimed at him is the fact that he is actively attempting to force these beliefs upon others instead of respecting their personal decisions. Again, from my personal experience isn’t God supposed to welcome those who come to His flock willingly and of their own volition?
You cannot force religion upon the masses and it’s counterproductive to attempt to do so. I was raised a Christian, although life, study and experience has led me to honestly disbelieve in any sentient being that has some omnipotent power. I have no belief in a higher being and, unless proven before my eyes to the contrary no one will sway my opinion. I do have friends who have belief in religious doctrines, be they Christian, Jewish, Muslim or otherwise. I respect their decision to have faith and I enter debate (although not argument) about these matters on occasion. I do not ever attempt to force my ideals upon them and neither do they attempt to convert me to their systems and doctrines.
It's not about what he believes in. It's how he implies that anyone who isn't religious is wrong.
...But then if he didn't he wouldn't be a Christian. If he doesn't think his beliefs are true, than he doesn't believe them and isn't a believer. However, there is a line between respectfully disagreeing and shoving your faith down peoples throats.

That's the issue that other people are trying to address, is that it feels as though he's forcing it on others. Implying to someone that what they believe is wrong is just as imposing as any kind of proselytism.
I've been raised as a Christian, and one thing my pastor never does, as deeply as he himself believes, is tell people they're wrong if they don't believe in God. He meets people where they're personally at, and Christianity (or any religion) would be helped a whole lot if more people were willing to do that.
Wow, I don't like it when people like this push their beliefs on me. Christians seem to do it the most (to me, at least) I do believe in god. But I appreciate what people like Dave Mustaine do and don't push beliefs on anyone. He could be like Tom Araya and just write good music and be in a band like Korn and not let it get to him. But not everyone can do that.

No, there's everything wrong with religion. It's archaic and horribly mind-bending and needs to stop, now. (Apologies to all followers of faith, I am very bull-headed on this topic).
There's nothing wrong with religion. Only with the church. You don't need churches and priests to believe in something. If you believe in God, do it. But always remember not to put all your trust in him and hope he is doing everything for you...
And, what's most important, try not to convert anyone to a different faith! Accept what they believe in...
He left the band because of his daughter, religion is something that helped him to quit the drugs. I don't get why so much hate for his decision, he made a choice for someone he loved and I give him much respect for that.
what most people can't see is that Christianity is a lifestyle that calls for change in your life that is now governed by Christ, you cannot put new wine in old wine skins for the skin will burst, the biggest challenge in your walk is the company you keep and believe me it's hard t walk away but a choice that you have to make. what this world needs are more Brians more guys who are willing to live for Christ and not for the world
Well, he may have not meant to push his beliefs on someone else. Just with the magnitude of his story, quitting a horrible drug problem using God as help, could just have livened him up so much that he's a bit overexcited about the topic. In my own analogy, it's like a little kid who got the best Christmas present ever and then going to school and bragging.
