Franz Ferdinand: Streaming New Album On MySpace

The highly anticipated third album from Scotland rockers Franz Ferdinand is currently streaming in it’s entirety on the band’s MySpace.

"Tonight: Franz Ferdinand" is the first album from the band since 2005’s "You Could Have It So Much Better". The album’s first single, "Ulysses", is already available for download. "Tonight: Franz Ferdinand" will be released on January 26 in the UK and January 27 in the US.

I have heard that franz ferdinand is going for a techno-reggae sort of thing, I really hope they stay with their indie roots. Another "take me out" would be awesome.

Franz have recently said that they're bored of all guitar music.
I hate it when bands do this, I've seen it before. Just because they decide to incorporate a synth into some of their songs they are immediately better than every other band.

I don't think I'll get it. I'm listening to it right now, and I'm not impressed. I loved their first, and their second had a few good tracks, but was overall a definite letdown. This one follows suit. Their new love for synthesizers really hasn't changed their sound that much, and, for this band, they really need a change. It's gotten a bit too same-y by now. There's a few decent tracks, but, c'mon now, it's lacking. And where are those rumored African influences?

Oh, well, another hint that the "indie" scene has just grown stale.

So just because some bands you don't like stream their albums on myspace before release mean it's a bad idea? Why? They're letting everybody hear the whole album before it's officially released. How is that bad?

Kings of Leon are amazing. The Killers are also really good too. Just because it's not Death Metal or some other crap doesn't mean it isn't good.

I have their first two albums, and I love both. They're one of the few, if not the only, "indie" band that I like. However, the single "Ulysses" really doesn't live up to the rest. I hope the rest is better. Time for a listen...

I agree with you. You might think that indie bands are boring and that metal bands are the shiz, but sadly, I find most of the time it's completely the other way round. It's preference. And anyways, if you gave every band that 'sounds the same' a listen, you'll find they sound completely different to each other. I find that Megadeth and Metallica could do the same songs and no one would notice, but someone here will be able to tell the induvidual little guitar licks and hoohahs that make them all different. If ya get me.

Anyways, I heard their new song on the radio and I liked it. It was kinda catchy. I don't care if they're using more synths or whatnot, I'm kinda bored of guitar at the moment too, but hey, who cares?

All of the negative comments on this article make me laugh.

The new album I'm loving, the synths are great. FF write unique, catchy songs. Just because they've been emulated so many times by so many other bands doesn't mean they suck.

I was thinking of maybe gettin this since I used to really like them. Then I read the review in my favorite music magazine, Paste, and the writer gave it a 13 out of 100! Ouch!!! Think I'm skipping this one. U2 will make up for it even though "Boots" was pretty....bizarre to say the least.

They did stray from their indie roots, but the album still sounds pretty good. Get over the synths, people. All artists change their sounds over albums, and at least this was a decent change rather than complete shit.
